What concert/show are you going to?

Jimmie Griffen is still rockin out and has done very well since. Jimmie, aside from being a badass guitar player, is one of the founding members of El Monstero the Pink Floyd tribute band. I saw them earlier this year and I had just seen Roger Waters. Roger Waters blew me away and was way better than I expected. Then, I go to see this Pink Floyd tribute band and was blown away again. Holy crap those guys are amazing.

Frankie Muriel is the genius behind Dr. Zhivegas, which is absolutely a party every time they play. They travel all over the US and sometimes overseas. Had a resident gig in Vegas at the Red Rocks Casino IIRC.

George Potsos is still rockin the Lou with Trixie Delight, another very popular band.

Dr. Z and Trixie Delight both make it out to KC on occasion. You guys should check them out.

Dr. Z is playing down in Overland Park on Saturday night; don't think I'll be able to make that. El Monstero is playing KC in January...

Nice! If you can make it to Dr. Z they are a blast for dance/ party music. Its a really good time.

Don't remember if you like Pink Floyd or not, but I was REALLY impressed with El Monstero.

Judas Priest is playing a small new concert venue about 15 minutes down the road from my house in April. I'm looking at tickets/seats now.

Holy crap, they're still around? I listened to their stuff ALL THE TIME when I was in HS (up until ~1988). Their early (second) album "Sad Wings of Destiny" is still one of my faves, but more prog than "metal" - maybe an early forerunner.

Gen and I caught Whitehorse's Panther in the Dollhouse tour this evening at the National Arts Centre.

Phenomenal event! One of the best in my 2017 "Year of the Concert." And, looking at my calendar, likely the last.

Husband and wife team Luke Doucet and Melissa McClelland work exceptionally well together, each the ying to the other's yang, both vocally and on guitar.

I highly recommend that folks check out their albums, both as Whitehorse, and their solo works.

This past Wednesday night I had the opportunity to go to the Whisky A GoGo on Sunset Strip in Hollywood to see one of my favorite musicians...................Pat Travers. Pat played the Whisky 40 years ago, this was a celebration.

Pat's band is now a 3 piece, featuring Tommy Craig; Drums & David Pastorius; Bass (the nephew of Jaco). I saw Pat 1.5 years ago at a music festival here in WI, and he physically looked awful. Wednesday night when he walked on stage he looked Fantastic!!

There were a few warm up bands which were good, except for the Road Vikings.......WTF!!!

Pat and the boys took the stage at 11PM. They played fantastic and the set list was great!! The sound system at the Whisky was great! I spent 75% right up front and then moved back to enjoy the sound. David fits in like a glove and had a great solo. Tommy really slammed and held everything steady for all of Pats syncopated hard rock funky style. They played for 1.5 hours.

What a great time I had..........................

I just got tickets to see Noel Gallagher in Austin. I am quite happy I hadn't purchased his new Album, yet, because the tickets came with a coupon code for a free copy of it.

I am excited!

So is he the asshole or would that be Liam? Can't say as I have heard anything of his solo stuff. Got Oasis first two albums and then grew tired of them.

Noel is the less of an asshole brother. He also wrote most of the oasis hits.

Went to a Vance Joy concert tonight and we walked away impressed. Dude sounded great live. We’ve been to a lot of concerts at this venue and tonight’s was the best mix I can remember. Lay It On Me was the highlight of the show:

Also, he didn’t do an encore which was refreshing - he finished with three of his biggest hits and that was it, no stupid waiting game.

Just saw John Williams conduct the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, on the 26th of April. Wow that was cool, never been to Chicago Symphony Hall before some interesting acoustics, like a giant bowl above and around the orchestra. I was in the 4th row, sounded pretty good to me. However an usher said the hardcore theatre goers, like the second balcony seating.

I just got home from a wonderful performance of Beethoven's 4th Symphony and the incredible pianist Anton Nel playing Beethoven's Piano Concerto no. 5 in E-Flat Major, the Emperor Concerto. Great show!!!

A few pic's from the Zappa show last weekend, including a picture of Zappa signing a poster for Barb. I told him it was her Birthday and he signed it Happy Birthday!!

We had a great time. The band played for over 3 hours without a break.

I just got tickets to see the Austin Symphony Orchestra perform "The Mighty Russians" with a piano soloist. I am excited!!!

The Austin Symphony was always good, but with the out of control growth of the city it has become spectacular.

Cant remember if I mentioned this or not but I am going to see Joe Bananarama in November and Saturday night while diving into a bottle of Four Roses Single Barrel I spent way too much money on great seats to see Journey and Def Leppard at Busch Stadium.

Something I said I would never do, I said I would never pay that much for concert tickets and I said I would never pay to see a band at a stadium. I really prefer more intimate venues.
