Best TV/Streaming series you can recommend to watch

War Never Changes
Famous
So, thanks to Hot Monkey for suggesting Giri/Haji to me, which was one of the best series ive seen.

I wanted to do a quick compilation of some if not the best series you have seen either on streaming platform, or better yet, regular television

It would also help if you can recall which streaming platform it was on, so others may benefit from it. yes that 30 second google search can do wonders.

- Giri/Haji - Netflix
- Bluey - Netflix - for kids, but great 6 minute videos that help decompress.
- Cory Carson - Netflix - again for kids, but highly entertaining. helps puts kids to sleep
- The Witcher - Netflix

- Deadwood - HBO

- Firefly - it was on Syfy
- CSI - the original, vegas. CBS regular tv back in the day

- Banner of Heaven - Hulu

- Yellowstone - Paramount plus (at one point was on Peacock)

we've had some discussion at home about the doctor who series (which i never seen), and also watching interview with the vampire, the new series.

This is VERY subjective...

What pops into my head right now is Atypical, on Netflix, still one of my favorite shows ever,

Currently loving Secrets of the Zoo (Ohio) on Disney+ / National Geographic.

The Expanse (Amazon Prime)
Game of Thrones (HBO)
The Wire (HBO)
The Sopranos (HBO)
The Man in the High Castle (Amazon Prime)
The Walking Dead

This is VERY subjective...
of course it is.

its sort of a way for us to share shows that we enjoyed, and hopefully let others experience the same thing, instead of wasting our time trying to figure out what to watch next time we get some free time.

you can still have an opinion about the show, and still have a conversation about it.

heres an example, i kinda hated the walking dead at season 1 ending, when i found out
john bernthal was sleeping with the sheriffs wife. ever since i hated the guy in any single show he had.

Boardwalk empire - HBO

Ozark - Netflix
Mare of Easttown (limited series) - HBO Max
Sex Education - Netflix
Peacemaker - HBO Max
The Boys - Amazon Prime
House of the Dragon/Game of Thrones - HBO MAX
Queen’s Gambit (limited series) - Netflix
The Mandalorian - Disney+
Andor - Disney+

Have you seen Breaking Bad?
so this is the part pauly has mentioned, the subjective factor.

i tried. admittedly i havent even finished ONE episode.

but it didnt stick with me.

same with dexter, and even the man in between (the aussie show)

i WANT to like it because i LIKE what he represents.

a father trying to take care of his family.

The wife and I tried watching Breaking Bad, but that was like after there were already 6 or 7 seasons out, and decided we just didn't want to invest that much time. Decent show, and wish we had started watching from the beginning.

Somebody above mentioned The Expanse, and I would highly recommend that one. We found the Scy-Fy episodes better, less politics and more science fiction, but Amazon didn't spare any money, and the last two seasons are still pretty good.

Cool, I heard other things about expanse, that the characters were bland and had some filler episodes, but who doesn't right?

Anyways this is great at least I'm not the only one.

I think my main point in creating this thread is to avoid spending or wasting time on a show we don't like or care for.

An example for me?

Banshee.

I did the first episode, then discovered it had soft porn in it. Skip.

It took us a few episodes of the Expanse before we were hooked, but then we couldn't get enough of it.

The first two seasons of Star Trek: Discovery are pretty good as well. Last two seasons were just ok, thought they would have been better with an even bigger time jump to the future, but it just didn't have magic of the first two seasons.

Game of Thrones?

Lots of families being taken care of in that series.

Hehehe. Yup. And for some reason I know a few people who didn't enjoy game of thrones.

I saw the trailer for let the right one in. Man, that was painful.

Any justified fans here?

If you have Disney+, IMHO Andor has probably been my favorite Star Wars series yet. I think it's the first Star Wars show to show a toilet, so there's that. It can be a little slow at times, but it also shows the lives in more detail of common folks, as well as prison life under the Empire. Definitely a more grown up Disney show.

I’m of the opinion at this point that the Star Wars property is better suited for tv series format. The world (yes Galaxy) and characters are vast. TV series give the creators more opportunities to explore it all in more depth. And let’s face it, the better material since the OT a has been on TV.

They can definitely flesh out the characters more, much like they did Loki in the Marvel series. I'm hoping this is more of the trend for Star Wars series, where we get to see more of "real" world in the Star Wars universe.
