Australia has a shortage of TV actors

One of the things I love about all my streaming services is that I get access to some amazing content from other nations. Naturally, English speaking TV is easier to enjoy than the alternative. Lately I've enjoyed quite a few shows from Australia, such as The Kettering Incident, Rake, Wanted, Doctor Blake, and many others. I like that the tropes US television suffers from are not present in Australian TV, and the writing can be pretty good - especially the development of differentiated characters.

I noticed that most of the shows I have watched have the same actors appearing in them. One actor might be crucial in one show while an incidental character in another. It is strange.... they all seem to be very good actors, but they appear as completely different characters in the various shows in which they appear. Every time I start a new Australian TV series, it seems the same cabal of actors keep turning up. It makes me feel they are running low on talented TV actors.

I think they get pulled into the US market if they're really good. There seems to be a disproportionate number of actors that were from Australia and even New Zealand.
