Saw the first episode of this last February, during PBS's annual (I thought) fund drive. It wasn't yet available in the US, but I put it in my "Cart" as the video was stunning. Its from the "Planet Earth" folks at the BBC, and features incredible video of birds, including a lot of "looking over the shoulder" of birds in flight, using small GoPro-type cameras.
PBS had another fund drive last week, and one of the gifts was this series; I checked my cart at Amazon, and yeah, its now available! $30 for a two-Bluray, 370-minute set; I started watching it tonight.
Outstanding! Watching a bald eagle capture a coot for dinner, over her shoulder, (the eagle's) is just something I never expected to see; likewise watching, over the shoulder, a snow goose wake up after a snowstorm, finally poking her head up thru the snow, looking around to get her bearings, WOW! Watching young hawks flying through clouds of bats, eventually learning how to catch them.
May have to bring this one to the Bats GTG, its pretty stunning visually. One disappointment, the audio is stereo only; you don't worry about that very long...
