"In a Pinch" Fish Tape

So with the recent install of my new iOS remote system I'm cleaning up some wiring and running some IR extension cables for my lighting controls and projector. I left my electricians fish tape at Jimmy's house (Hillside Cinema). I didn't feel like driving 40 mins each way out there to pick it up or buy a new one at the hardware store. So I used several feet of weed trimmer line which was an ideal diameter and just rigid enough to feed through the conduit that goes to my projector. It is also plenty strong enough to pull on. After getting the IR extension cable to the projector, I used it again to pull the wire through the wall and to my Grafik Eye lighting control.....so if you're ever in a bind and have a spool of this stuff laying around in your garage, give it a shot.

I've used trimmer line with a weight on the end to drop an an empty wall. I've also used it to support an antenna (remember those?) that was mounted in an attic.

Great idea to use it as a fish tape in a conduit.
