Damn. This was on the local news tonight, and I've never seen anything like it. A beagle decided to climb up a damn mountain on the east edge of SLC, got stranded and a bunch of folks struggled (a lot) to try to rescue her. The video in the link is almost 12 minutes long (edited down to a minute or so on the news) but gives you an idea at how high this stupid dog climbed! I hike these places in the spring and fall, but not when they're snow/ice covered!
They weren't able to grab her (sooo close!) but left her some food and hand warmers as they had to descend due to it getting dark. Damn if the beagle didn't make her way all the way back down overnight, to her own home!

Wow! I hope to view whatever is out there for her descent back home! I salute the ones that tried to save her.

I find this whole story odd. They said one of the SAR's neighbour's dog was stuck high on a cliff. How did the neighbour know it was on a cliff? How could they possibly have known where to look? Am I missing something?
