Outdoor Speaker Deal / Install

Beast Buy Canada just started a Father's Day sale on Polk Atrium 4 outdoor speakers. Their regular price is $310C. With HST that comes to $350C. On sale, the tax-in price is $150C, for the next week.

So I bought two pairs: one for me, and one for my neighbour.

Using an existing Zone 2 connection from my family room HT receiver to the garage, I split the line in the garage and installed a spare TC-9 speaker switch. Then I ran low voltage outdoor 14/2 stranded copper landscape cable from that switch to my front porch. It took me the better part of the afternoon, but the install went great.

They sound very decent. Nice for background listening without disturbing the neighbours, however I gave a Dire Straits SACD a spin, cranked it a bit, and they sounded good enough to host a pretty decent size gathering out front.

Obviously my next job is to sand and re-stain those chairs!

But at least I'll have tunes with me when I do.

I like the under window install too. I have a similar window and I don’t know why I’d never considered putting speakers under it. It’s a clean look.
