Thieves who Steal your ring video doorbell to the Tube Top Bandit

LOL... methheads. A Ring or similar device is only as useful as any other video surveillance. If you're dealing with someone who doesn't want to get caught, they'll bail once they realize they're being recorded. If you're dealing with someone who doesn't care or is just a moron, well, now the cops have good video of them.

You still need some other security system to notify the authorities. That would have busted the tube top burglar.

I would love to see some stats on how many of the perps caught on video are apprehended later.

It would be interesting. I would suspect that while it's not often a decent priority, it may well be that such folks are already known to the police department and as such would be fairly low hanging fruit for the cops to nab. They may not run around trying to solve it, but even if the news will show the video they can get a tip.

It likely won't recover the goods that were stolen, but video surveillance is more of a deterrent than an after-the-fact help. If someone doesn't care or know they're being recorded then, well, hope you have good insurance.
