When did we switch to dots (I refuse)

So i go all the way back to the dolby surround days before anyone had dedicated a subwoofer channel let alone multiple.

When Dolby Pro Logic came a long, a properly designed HT had 5.1 (point) channels. It was referred as 5 point 1 for years. Then 7 point 1 etc...

Then along came the "creators" via YouTube and such and all started using "dots". 9 dot 2 dot 4 etc. I drives me bonkers.

Even when they refer to screen size they say 2 dot 35 to 1, which is clearly a number and a ratio. We do not refer to ratios by "dots".

I honestly think it makes them sounds like idiots.

NOW GET OFF MY LAWN YOU FILTHY PUNKS!!!

This is very deja vu! I remember seeing someone else complain about this, I think. It’ll always be ’point’ to me.

Am I just getting too old? I still ’double space’ after a period when I type. Even when texting. I also still put a comma before the word ‘and’ when listing something in a sentence. And I spell ‘cancelled’ with two L’s. I dunno. Maybe I was just never a good grammar student (possibly). Or I had bad teachers (who knows?). Or, most likely, the whole damn world just decided to start doing things differently than I do. (THAT’S IT!!! NOW GET THOSE FILTHY PUNKS OFF MY LAWN!!!)

Can’t believe that was over two years ago! Still as relevant today as it was then.
