I've just upgraded the forum software to Xenforo 2.0. Please let me know if you have any problems with it. I'm still working on installing styles... coming soon.
I got a couple PSA subs back in 2012 (the year the company was founded) and had the same experience with the gain. I was afraid something was wrong since there was very little output until they were turned past 12 o'clock. Very different from the SVS subs I'd had. Anyway, I reached out to Tom V...
I know someone with the 50" version and yeah, it wouldn't fit down the stairs. He had to disassemble it and hire someone to build a new cabinet in his HT. Here are pics of his room...
Okay, I'm going to stick with my opinion that adding height speakers is only worth it if you can do two pairs. When testing all three configs, there wasn't a huge difference in perception when the flying police car zipped by overhead. However, I watched a couple scenes where there were voices...
The more I watch, the more I like the new screen/projector/video processor, and I'm finding it easier to ignore the SDE. I just watched Blade Runner 2049 and it looked amazing (sound wasn't too shabby either ;)).
I added a second set of height speakers to our current HT after about 1.5 years. I feel like the jump from 7.1.2 -> 7.1.4 was greater than 7.1 -> 7.1.2. I just watched Blade Runner 2049 the other day and it's one of the best Atmos soundtracks I've heard. I'll take some time over the next couple...
No need for a sad face, @heeman! I have no regrets with going with this setup. I run the Epson laser at 85% and it's so much brighter than the JVC. Add in the dynamic tone mapping of the madVR, and the picture looks great. Most of the time I don't notice the SDE and Angela has never mentioned...
My old JVC bulb-based projector also used PWM, but I guess since it wasn't as bright as a laser light source, it never bothered me. I first noticed the burning sensation at MWAVE and then confirmed the issue during visits to two local HTs (one was Ryan’s).
By the way, I now have the new screen...
Had some digital credits with Amazon so decided to rent Flow based on the 97/98 Rotten Tomato scores. We ended up watching it two nights in a row. If you're a cat person, you'll definitely enjoy. If you're not, maybe it'll nudge you that way. No humans, no human dialog, and no need for either...
I rarely watch discs anymore. There are a few movies like Wonder Woman, Top Gun Maverick, and Guardians of the Galaxy that we'll throw in on occasion. I was asked in an AVS thread for the QB1000 about a scene in Blade Runner 2049, so this seemed like a good time to pick up a copy. Scott Pilgrim...
