    Bigger is better???

Actually I was mildly surprised by that also although I think it is only online. There does not seem to be a physical publication.

    Bigger is better???

I'm just going to leave this right here! Well I guess since we now have 110" TV's that you can readily purchase and bring home the same day, why not this?:nope:

    New Family Room Acoustics

I don't know. it really makes the TV just look like a little computer monitor when you do that. You need a much bigger TV!!!

    Blanket Game

So this is the area I was considering. It seems like a really easy way to acoustically treat this alcove behind the TV.

    Blanket Game

Anyone have any opinion or experience with using acoustically absorbent blankets? Think like moving blankets and the such. Something like this I have what I think is a perfect application for this which would make things easy for me but this will only be an option if it is actually effective...

Strange case of Sorbothane turning into Black Tar

@Flint did you ever gain any insight into this? I ask because I pulled some equipment off my rack that had been sitting there (unmoved) for years and it had sorbothane isolation feet under it and they were stuck to the rack and really mushy when I tried to pull them up. They were not 'runny'...

    Heeman AL Home Theater

Very impressive curve! What was the difference before you added that massive diffusor/absorber. Did it make the room "livelier" or more balanced with the amount of absorption you have? And are the subs in the front and behind the rear seating?

Front L/R Makie HR824 + SVS Sub...what can I add to get me back to a 5.1 system

Sounds like your first priority should be to trade in those kids!:nyah:

Time to update the front doors

What kind of oil do you put on them. I know mahogany will dry and crack badly if not kept “moisturized “

The old is becoming new again!

And what I mean by that is receivers and preamps are becoming 'nerd-gasmic' again. I used to love the old early HT receivers that had tons of inputs, triggers, jacks, and various other connection ports. Then HDMI came out and many of the legacy analog inputs vanished. The backs of AV...

Question for those that know (speaker config. and amplification)

Your results are about what I would have assumed although I thought the surround backs would be more 'active' to compensate for the absence of rear height channels. So then here is the 54-dollar question, if you had a 7.1 and could only add front height channels (no back height channels) would...

Question for those that know (speaker config. and amplification)

I agree which goes back to one of my original questions. Would the height and mains blend to the point where there is a 'matrixed' soundstage or would the height speakers be too localized and call attention to themselves in just a 7.1.2 set up? I'm hoping this is what @CMonster could discern...

Question for those that know (speaker config. and amplification)

But even if we are not naturally inclined to pinpoint sound above us there has to be some psychological effect of the larger sound field. Does this also mean height speakers need to run 'hot' in a system to make the most impact?

Question for those that know (speaker config. and amplification)

Thanks for that response, it is about exactly what I was wondering. I keep hearing that a 5.1.4 is a better sounding set up than 7.1.2 because the sound is more 3D. I'm pretty hard wired into 7.1 right now. It would be much easier for me to convert to 5.1.4 than 7.1.4 because I could convert...

Question for those that know (speaker config. and amplification)

So I have updated the display and of course we all know the upgrade bug is usually not cured by just one purchase. Now I am hunting a new processor so I can enjoy all the new digital surround formats available. I currently have a 7.1 config which I plan to keep but I am wondering if the atmos...
