Exactly I needed a break somewhere to gather thoughts, appreciate the weight of events and story being told. A second viewing might yield a lot of observations missed while absorbing the impact of initial one.
Agreed it was effective but also unrelenting as I mentioned I wish there could have been some breaks or lulls. It never let up. Probably my only (small) gripe with the movie. Still really enjoyed it.
Agreed Oppenheimer was top notch stuff from Nolan.
Casting, acting, storytelling, pacing, editing, visuals and most especially score and sound effects were absolutely top notch. Nolan definitely leaned hard on very deliberate use of sound effects and score to maintain a steady and escalating...
Took my father to see Oppenheimer today on the big XD screen will post more of a review later but it was definitely a Christopher Nolan flick top to bottom. Pretty intense never let up on the viewer felt like I had been in a fight after.
Bump:
Watched it on demand on Amazon prime this weekend while waiting out the heavy rain. Some (albeit predictable) twists and turns but never really got that interesting IMO. Minimal character development and wooden acting from Affleck kinda felt like he mailed it in. Production value felt...
Basically had this Pluto channel on all day over the last few days while hiding in the AC in between nasty high humidity, Canadian wildfire smog and heavy downpours.
Watchlist...
Godzilla vs. Gigan
Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla
Terror of Mechagodzilla
Godzilla vs. Mothra

Watched this kind of by chance over the holiday weekend stumbled across trailer and gave it a shot. It was much better then I was expecting. Kind of Good Will Hunting meets custody battle kind of hybrid. Thought it was great and a little more serious then the trailer may show. The court scenes...
G-Fan alert... Pluto TV free streaming app now has a 24/7 Godzilla channel featuring tons of classic and new titles. Binge watched a bunch in a row today.
Interstellar was great it's a favorite of mine and my son we have watched it together a few times. Speaking of which just got advanced tickets for IMAX showing of Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer coming out in July looking forward to this one.
Enjoyed the new Flash movie this weekend. Lots of cameos, some real, some CGI, but all nostalgic and fun. A much better DC super hero offering then other recent films IMO.
Saw new Guardians of the Galaxy movie today on the big screen we enjoyed it. Some mildly dark back/origin story to the Rocket character put a surprisingly serious tone in between predictably campy parts. But a pretty good Marvel movie IMO maybe one of the better recent ones.
The more I think about Sisu the more I liked it. May have to go back for another big screen viewing before it leaves theaters Didn't make the connection at the time but realize now it's the lead actor and director from my all time favorite modern era Christmas film Rare Exports.
Sisu was awesome we saw it in the theater today the crowd was cheering some of the scenes. Absolute mayhem and very violent but also very well filmed IMO and just plain fun. Loved it.
Gotcha. I am sticking close to home for next few months while I sort out my living/house situation which is in limbo at the moment. So probably no road trips for metal shows.
