    Official Sim Racing Thread

Yeah, I'm on Safari/MBP, so that must be the issue. At least on my MBP screen, an HDR video on, say, ewetube's home screen stands out like a sore thumb, and your video above has that same extreme brightness/darkness; hmmm.

Odd, I tried enlarging that video and a Facebook button is right on top, can't hit it without going to FB. Nice HDR!

^^^ Wow, those were great! Definitely Fountains-of-Wayne/Jellyfish vibes.

If just 5.1 speaker setup, does Dolby Atmos do anything?

    Thanks much, Tom. :toast:

Where you been, Dog? Good to see you posting.

If just 5.1 speaker setup, does Dolby Atmos do anything?

A good question and I'd like to tack on a related question: If I play a Dolby Atmos disk (4K) in my 200-series Oppo players, thru a similar 20-yr-old 5.1 speaker system, will it play in 5.1, revert to stereo, or just not play at all? Deets: my Oppos do not feature Atmos nor 4K, nor does my...

The Repercussions of walmart buying Vizio

A good followup from Caleb, with an interesting history on "how we got here" and his dystopian, "the Oligarchs win again" prediction for the near-future.

    What Are You Listening To?

omgwtfbbq. The Man In The Brown Shorts™ should be bringing this CD to me tomorrow, but this track just came out on EweTube. It's been a long, long time since I've had tears running down my cheeks. Ho-Lee-Chit Batman! There is another video on the 'tube, 2 hours long, where Jacob...

The Repercussions of walmart buying Vizio

Yup, they're out there. And I don't know if that's ewetube's decision, or the content creators. "The Late Show with Steven Colbert" also is ad-free (and I love John Oliver!) I also tried something this afternoon with a cooking channel I follow; I opened the video in a separate window...

The Repercussions of walmart buying Vizio

I voted with my feet, and dropped Prime. I still get free shipping, but there's nothing I need "within two days" (and they often missed that mark anyway). And really only order things from amazoid that I can't find locally anymore. I'm also trying something with Ewetube's algorithm. If a...

    Mashups

Wish this had been performed by a band, rather than a single keyboardist/MIDI track, but damn they mix well together!

The Repercussions of walmart buying Vizio

When I saw the news last week that wally-world bought out Vizio, I thought, "Great, soon those things will be displaying walmart-specific ads (perhaps a permanent scrolling ad banner at the bottom), with no way of disabling it", and was thinking about starting a thread about it. Caleb just sent...

    Pomplamoose: Monster Mask

Really cool overview of how Pomplamoose works, and how to make a living as a "content creator".

    Joni

Every year, since I was a teen, I've watched the Grammy Awards. And for the last 15 years or so, I've always promised myself "this is the last time"; but, there was almost always a small slice of an artist that caught my ear, and I ended up being a fan (Seal, Take 6, some mexican guitarist...

    What Are You Listening To?

Jacob Collier plays with himself! I've been an active musician, and visited innumerable music stores, but I've yet to see/play with a steel drum (they have such an exotic sound!). Here, Jacob hits one a bit, but it's inverted, and it looks like the different "notes" are actually cut away...

    What Are You Listening To?

Haven't seen anything from Pomplamoose in a long time; here's Nuclear Kittens. I don't speak French but I could listen to her sing it all day.

    Jacob Collier

Here, he answers some questions from the internet; most of them are pretty basic but I did learn that the human voice's overtones form a major chord, which I did not know. But, at 10:00 or so, he demonstrates polyrhythms, 3 beats/measure with one hand and 5 b/m with the other (I used to be able...

    Official Sim Racing Thread

It's not about a racing sim, but there's a thread over on macrumors.com that's just exploding. Just in time for the (delayed) release of the Apple Vision Pro, a company has updated its 14-yr-old iPhone game "Fruit Ninja", where you'll be able to chop fruit with your hands on your $4,000 AVP...
