My basement is down to the studs...what do I add?

Sorry to hear about the flood damage, yikes! The 2" PVC is a great idea, I sure wish I knew of that option when my system was installed 13 years ago. I would also use the PVC to overhead speaker/ATMOS locations, even if you don't currently have that kind of setup.

    What Are You Listening To?

Prince's "1999", a double album had the fawnky hit Dance, Music, Sex, Romance (DMSR). I taped it in college on a 90-minute cassette and about wore it out. Bought 1999 on CD when CDs came out, they were able to squeeze that double album onto one CD, by leaving off one song: DMSR?!?!? Subsequent...

    What Are You Listening To?

More Louis Cole, doing the same song in a 3-piece jazz combo (he's on synth) and then with a modern "big band" (he's on drums). I didn't think "kids these days" played this kind've music...

I don't speak much french, but I could listen to her sing in french all week. In fact, I might. Beautiful!

I learned this in Junior High School, but it bears repeating:

    What Are You Listening To?

A group I should've been following for awhile, Scary Pockets: The standing guitarist, and the Wurlie player (Pomplamoose hubbie and Patreon CEO), are the guys from the "Dead Wax" channel, and the ferocious drummer is Louis Cole, a new discovery for me (his newest is in my car player, and...

    The Vulfpeck Thread

Another, what, Pedal Steel track from Vulfpeck?? Yup. He's playing a similar "beginner's model" that I did, with three foot pedals and just one knee lever (he bends his leg to his right, just at one "depth" indicating just one lever, unlike up to five that some advanced instruments feature)...

    Leonid and Friends

Totally unexpected. This popped up yesterday! The Carpenters were all over my Jr High/High School years, and I really didn't give them much thought. It wasn't until later in my life that I realized how etherial Karen's vox were, and how good Richard's arrangements are. Superstar...

From JrHigh to early college, my favorite band was Chicago (and I still bought their 37th album, last year?) And my favorite tune was (I've been) Searchin' So Long; kinda their version of Hey Jude. A fantastic cover.

    What Are You Listening To?

Dinner, and drinks (lotsa drinks) with Rush. I'd seen this video years ago, forgot about it, and it suddenly appeared on my ewetube feed. Makes me so happy, and so melancholy, at the same time...

    New HVAC

    >bump!< Was 64˚ in the house this morning, so I finally did a deep-dive into that stupid Lennox S40 thermostat controlling my new heat pump/furnace system. Downloaded another "Owner's Manual" which said the same damn things as the others, but I could only control the A/C temp from the...

    What Are You Listening To?

Sorry to keep bouncing this one (musicians only need read further). Saw this jazz pianist's comments about the song, and I learned a few (more) things about chord/key changes. So, so cool!

I think I had posted this first video of them doing "In The Stone" elsewhere, not really sure. This "mix" has them doing ITS plus "Fantasy" (I was introduced to EW&F my Jr yr of HS, and have been a rabid fan since). I haven't watched this "mix" after the first two songs, but noted the third...

    What Are You Listening To?

Wow, where did this come from?!? Very early Genesis (mid-seventies), live; and the video quality is quite good from that period. Good clip also to realize how good a drummer Phil Collins was.

    What Are You Listening To?

I've never been a Jackson Browne fan. But here's a video of him doing "Doctor My Eyes" with Sklar and a percussionist in (iirc) a "Tiny Desk" setting, during the COVID thing. BUT they've added a bunch of diverse musicians from around the globe, and it suddenly is Magic! Enjoy.

    MotoGP on NBC!

Agreed. Even back in the "old days" (2005? when I started following the sport) the competitors rode thru their injuries all the time. Today, Bagnaia needed several minutes, plus assistance, just to get off his bike at the end; he then leaned against a corner for quite awhile. He was hurting...

    What Are You Listening To?

Back in the '80s there was a synth-pop band that I took a liking to, Swing-Out Sister. The vocalist was very good, and the tracks had a lot of cool chord progressions and unexpected key changes/NOT key changes (the build-up chords suggested a keychange, which never happened, but then later in...
