QLED's are brighter and since he has no light control, this is the better choice over OLED. OLED has better off axis viewing and deeper blacks.

The new HT will have it's challenges, it's not as deep as the WI HT. It does have higher ceilings and is a little wider. It has angled side walls and build it massive bass traps. It should be fun!!

Yes, put absorption panels behind the speakers, this will reduce the sound bouncing from the front wall and improve clarity. The further out the speakers from any boundary the better the depth of field and imaging. Play with it, you will be surprised. Try multiple sub locations, sometimes...
