I've just upgraded the forum software to Xenforo 2.0. Please let me know if you have any problems with it. I'm still working on installing styles... coming soon.
The 200 Hz spec listed is when, I assume, the second bass driver becomes active - it's a crossover value.
The speaker is rated as having a frequency response of 28 Hz - 45 KHz so a good rule of thumb is to set your subwoofer's crossover to twice the lowest frequency, so in this case 56 Hz. If...
Got a monthly subscription to Disney Plus yesterday basically for Hamilton. We watched that last night in the HT and I’m guessing we’ll watch at least the first act several more times. Also ended up watching the live-action Aladdin for the first time and it was better than expected.
If memory servers me correctly, and that’s definitely questionable given how much wine I consume, I believe the Outlaw 990 pre/pro had a USB port on the back that could be used to connect a drive with music or to perform maintenance/diagnostics and there was a little switch to indicate intent...
Nice first post. I think the moral of the above story was that the author didn't think it was worth spending new money on the Crowns when the dude already had perfectly capable Parasound amps (that don't cost anywhere close to $1000 more than the Crowns).
Parasound...
Yes, the HT is decently sound-proofed. We raised the floor and put insulation underneath plus there are double doors. We still try not to go overboard when watching movies and any late night music listening session I do is at low volume since the HT is right above their master bedroom.
I used 3/4" Carlon low-voltage conduit (orange). 1" probably would've been better but I can't remember how large the opening was to the gang box - that may be a limiting factor. Anyway, Carlon makes boxes and connectors that all snap together easily. You'll want a pull-string that is twice as...
We watched it a couple weekends ago and I really liked it. I don't think my wife cared for the ending as much as I did. We both agreed the logistics for the trip seemed a little far-fetched but easy enough to ignore and not let it ruin the movie.
I got the sub up and running on Wednesday evening. I didn't bother doing a room calibration because it's a bit of a PITA with the older Anthem pre/pro so I just set the level using my SPL meter and the Disney WOW calibration blu-ray. I was planning on playing around with it more this weekend but...
Yes, we're in a downtown condo and have been known to do a little archery down the main hallway. Here's the other end of the room:
And a view out the windows:
I know it's horrible but I knew where I wanted the sub to live and the cylinder was the best fit. If for some reason it can't be made to sound decent there I can ship it back for free. We briefly considered the B&W round subwoofer just because it looks cool but it's ridiculously overpriced.
The...
Photos have been fixed. Laziness preventing me from hooking up the sub is still intact. I have to reach around the pre/pro to plug in the sub cable, change settings, re-run calibration... I can only handle so much.
