I've just upgraded the forum software to Xenforo 2.0. Please let me know if you have any problems with it. I'm still working on installing styles... coming soon.
Got the track lights mounted today. The idea is that each spotlight on them will shine on an acoustic panel, on which will be mounted some kind of artwork, like one of Renate's photos printed on canvas. Kind of a gallery feel.
BTW, i have almost exactly 50 sq ft of that laminate hardwood flooring leftover (must've overestimated square footage, or maybe just had less waste than expected). Anyone fairly local have a project that could use it?
Thanks. On Aug 2, my dad and BIL are coming down to help me hang doors. Hopefully asal can make it too...
So in the next 2.5 weeks before then, i want to:
hang chandelier in "poker" area (above black table in pics)
hang pendant light in den/bedroom
hang track lights
do as much baseboard...
Some slow progress. My left knee and hip have been bugging me, so i've starting going to PT again. It's starting to feel better, but is slowing me down for sure. Anyways, here are some updates.
Finished the flooring in the two back rooms, and starting putting down baseboards.
Hung lights...
Good question. I had been planning to buy a Carada 120" (diag) 2.35:1 screen, with the 1.0 gain material. But with all the construction costs, saving up $1k for a screen seemed low on the priority list, when we did have a fresh new wall we could project on for awhile. So we taped off the...
Interior doors ordered! There went my next paycheck...
The screen wall needs another coat, then i think we're done painting. I'll take pictures tomorrow.
I'm sure it varies by insurance company, Adam. Best to check with yours. Although honestly the whole setup took a morning of work and <$200 to do.
I finished the laminate in the other back room, so now we're going back to painting (I don't want to install flooring in the "poker table" area...
Sump is in. It is bone dry, even though it rained pretty heavily on Friday when we started digging. Not sure it will do anything, but i suppose if we ever got an extreme event again, the water would go into the sump basin before coming into the basement any other way. Plus, we can insure the...
Sorry for the lack of progress. The main issue was that i've been traveling for work and haven't been home very much the past two weeks.
The other issue is that we got a little bit of water under the dricore in the area near the floor drain in the basement (as mentioned in the "Weather" thread...
Hopefully people are still reading and interested. We had my daughter's 8th bday party this weekend, so we didn't make a ton of progress last week, but i got some of the laminate hardwood down in one of the back rooms. For less than $1/sf at Lumber Liquidators, i think we got a deal.
My fancy projector install:
I know i won't get any work done if i mount it, so it's going back in the box this weekend until all construction is done. I decided i would get a cheap projector to play with for a year or two and then invest in a good one. This is an Acer H6510BD, that had gone...
If you want to help install a click-together laminate hard wood floating floor, you're welcome any time :P Seriously though, it'd be great to have you and Jo and the kids come visit sometime.
We're hoping to have painting done in 2 weeks, then i'll do the hardwood flooring (hopefully 2 - 3...

Thanks guys. It is a big room, about 17'6" by 31'9" total. Plus then a couple rooms at the back. It's about 880 sq ft of total new living space. The half/pony wall is about 17'6" back from the screen wall.
We're busy priming today. That phase should last a couple weeks I'd guess, then on...
We have guys mudding/taping currently. They should be done tomorrow. I will take more pictures on Sunday. After that, we prime and paint, then start laying out the hardwood laminate (going in the back rooms and the "poker" area). The actual "theater" area will get carpet.
