I've just upgraded the forum software to Xenforo 2.0. Please let me know if you have any problems with it. I'm still working on installing styles... coming soon.
My much loved 2015 Sony XBRX940C died a sudden and unexpected death and I needed a new TV. The timing was terrible, because I just spent a bloody fortune on my shop, roof, solar, etc. That meant I had to look for something at a lower price point than I otherwise might have. After doing a bunch...
I was really annoyed when Amazon started playing ads with the option to pay extra to get rid of them. Aren't I already paying enough for Prime? Everyone has their bloody hand out. I pay for YouTube Premium because we watch a ton of YouTube, but the price has gone up to something like $23/mo...
I LOVE Mark Rober. He's a national treasure. Getting those scam Indian call centers shut down was incredible. As for the stuff in San Francisco, I doubt the local government or police will do anything about it. They have already demonstrated repeatedly that virtue signaling is more important...
I want to build new speakers for my next big upgrade, but I need more experience designing and building smaller, cheaper stuff first. I figure I'll do it in a few more years.
The Mii is just a Bluetooth receiver and doesn't pretend to be anything more. I can say one thing. It is a serious signal grabber. My phone connects every time I walk into the house and it won't take no for an answer. The range on the thing is insane. I've never had a stronger Bluetooth connection.
If you just want Bluetooth, there are a ton of cheap options that work fine.
I use this one in my main system: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078J3GTRK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1
I also have one of these...
Yeah. I discovered I had a bad line-out for one of my surround channels and had to move my surrounds from my amp to my receiver. I also have one bad channel on my amp. I'm probably going to have to fix the latter. The former isn't that important and can wait until the next system refresh.
I've been listening to Extreme's new album a lot lately and really like it a lot. Lisa and I also went to see them a couple months ago. Great show. Nuno is definitely one of the best rock guitarists out there right now and the solo in this track is insane.
With the advent of lossless and high-resolution audio streaming, I don't bother buying CDs anymore. I picked up a bunch of used discs for cheap on eBay awhile back to fill some holes, but then I started to wonder why. I think I'm done, unless it is someone I can't get on Amazon Music or YouTube...
I've got a cheap little $15 Chinese digital amp that I bought for the garage. It is amazing how decent these things are, considering what they cost.
I also own three amps made by Fosi that I absolutely love. They are definitely more expensive and overkill for Flint's application (I'd have done...
We still pick up the odd disc, but it is usually stuff that isn't available for streaming. I've been buying nearly all of my movies on Vudu for at least a decade. Discs look marginally better, but the convenience factor involved in owning streaming licenses is hard to beat. These days, I mostly...
I've had a BDI media console for many years and can attest to the high build quality. It has been through three moves and some of those movers were NOT kind to it. All it has are a few scratches and one ding that did not even break the veneer. Their stuff is spendy, but worth it.
