I've just upgraded the forum software to Xenforo 2.0. Please let me know if you have any problems with it. I'm still working on installing styles... coming soon.
There was once a review by an editor of S&V of a crazy manifold build that had something like 12 or 14 18" drivers in it, mounted in the basement. I'll have to find it again.
It was loosening light bulbs and floor boards.
I've been referencing this site for a while...

When wall space doesn't give much option, apparently you can just use a manifold type IB sub. They're not preferred to wall mounted IB's in performance terms but leave you with more ways to...
Thanks a lot Vinyl...I've never seen an intuitive buyers guide for speakers. Usually all you see is BS hype from the kind of mag sent to me like "mapleshade."
Hey Jomari!
I don't know much about soundbars...your landlord on the other hand is quite different!
If I had to guess how those things worked though I'd say there is probably some delay and direction targeting for certain bands of frequencies.
My sub locations' average output and response happened to be best directly between my mains, behind everything else. I discovered that my higher XO setting seems to also resolve acoustic issues caused by my mains placement...I put them pretty close to the side walls.
I think you should call it your humb(LING) system.
Looks fantastic with the new TV...first time I've seen it yet. Is your new CC location below the TV your new preference or did you make it sound exactly the same as before?
My setup is also quite like a room within a room...
The ceiling nor any wall is in contact with the foundation. But I didn't really build it that way for acoustic reasons.
I've decided against it. I'm planning on building an IB sub, plus I think having that driver in the V1 cabinet with the v1 amp wouldn't really make much of a difference.
I guess it's all about one of the skills of a true HT enthusiast...making good results with and optimizing with what you have. Maybe you could even forget about the surround channels for now and concentrate on the front end of the setup.
It seems like a sales gimmick to me, at least until theres some recordings supporting it. A properly set up 5.1 gives the impression of height and width anyway.
