    Marantz 8802A-------MINE!!!!!!!!!

That's interesting. The nuances of different brands is why I'm asking. I know on my Yammie, I can stream from Pandora etc. into Zone 2 regardless of Zone 1; however, Airplay is a different animal since an outside device is essentially controlling the unit. Thanks, John

    Marantz 8802A-------MINE!!!!!!!!!

Here's an odd question: Can you Airplay into Zones 2 & 3? John

New Notebook PC for media playing only...

I'll buck the trend and say no DAC. I'm assuming that he won't be moving this around very much; therefore, the physical weakness of the mini-mike connector shouldn't come into play. The real weakness with built-in sound cards has more to do with RTA type measurements than the output. This...

    System vs. Material

I agree with Jeff and Haywood. The one advantage to a static system, IMHO, is that it becomes the "standard" and the thing that changes is the material. I know how the system sounds, so I just listen to material. If the material sounds really bad; it's probably the material. John

    The Abyss Blu-Ray

Barney, you got my hopes up then BASHED them with a hammer. A few years ago I traded in my Collector's Edition DVD of The Abyss to BB for the $5 promotion. I remember thinking that surely this one HAD to be on blu-ray. A few months later I started looking for it and found multiple discussions...

Purpose of a HET in a Speaker Crossover?

Yeah, I wasn't thinking about transistors having 3 leads. More importantly it's great to see someone like rammisframmis hanging out around here. We can always use someone with some electrical knowledge, not to mention a good smart ass. Welcome to the fray!! John

    CC Subtitles

Yes, the Roku does DD (at least). I know this because Hell On Wheels sounds fantastic! I promise I'll check the Panny tonight when I get home. John

Purpose of a HET in a Speaker Crossover?

My guess is that it's going to be a "proprietary" name such as "High End Transistor" or something like that because it's connecting the two "high range" drivers in this case. (Sorry Jeff, I thought you were saying it was ONLY connected to the green wire.) That could mean that it is in fact a...

Purpose of a HET in a Speaker Crossover?

After looking at the diagram, I have a couple of questions: (1) It appears to me that the HET is connected with a single wire to the Orange lead, not the Green. What am I missing? (2) How was the value of the HET determined? I don't see it listed on the diagram. Typically when devices are...

    CC Subtitles

Just of out of curiosity, did you try pressing the "down" button on the directional pad to see if the CC option is there? As for a player, I know that the Rokus support CC from Netflix. I can check my Panny BD player and Samsung TV (which would presumably have the same app as a Sammy BD...

    Zing's New (Mismatched) Center Channel

The bottom line to me is this: That system is AWESOME!! It's the kind that inspires to pour a glass of my favorite beverage, grab my lady's hand, play some tunes, and enjoy life. Congrats on a job well done my friend! John

Above 45Hz or so (where the left and right sub graphs cross), the right sub is detrimental to the output. John

    Zing's New (Mismatched) Center Channel

Apparently there is something asymmetrical in your room causing those two nulls at different frequencies. It doesn't take much of a difference either. What I find most interesting is that the null centered at 50Hz corresponds to ~11'. Are your ceilings that high? John

Yeah, that's why you aren't involved in moving IN the new subs because I knew you would be moving OUT the existing ones. John
