    TV repair?

Installed. Two hours in and I'm impressed. It pretty much set itself up with my iCloud settings, did have to download the YouTubeTV app, but its running fine and I'm figuring out the navigation. I swear the picture is also much better than what I was getting thru GoogleTV, looks like I'm...

    What Are You Listening To?

The Man in the Brown Shorts™ just dropped this off from a young artist called Laufey, who is picking up Disney/Jazz/Pop styles and incorporating it into her COVID/Internetz style. Then, 30 minutes later, I see Adam Neeley did an hour-long EweTube on why she isn't really jazz, but he had...

    TV repair?

.....aaaand I spoke too soon (except for the stupid part). Google TV gives me my YoutubeTV interface/channels, but every time I hit the "Home" button on the Sony remote, it called up the Google home page, not the YTTV home page (where the DVR is), but it did go there the first time. There's...

    What Are You Listening To?

And, some MORE Louis Cole. This is an odd quartet: upright bass going thru an envelope filter, a synth, Louis on drums, and a... Button Accordian.

    TV repair?

Well. Color me stupid. I'm mostly happy with the built-in streamer (runs Googlez TV) and getting my content from Ewetube streaming service, but the "cloud DVR" function is always wonky, sometimes it would come up, most of the time it wouldn't. I finally saw it tonight: I have two EweTube...

    Cryo froze cables

Somewhere near the beginning of that video he mentions this cryo treatment is "in addition to" their demagnetizer step. "Demagnetizing" copper? That's when I turned it off. Many toolmakers cryo-treat their metals used in edge tools/blades. I've taken two Metallurgy courses in college...

My basement is down to the studs...what do I add?

Sorry to hear about the flood damage, yikes! The 2" PVC is a great idea, I sure wish I knew of that option when my system was installed 13 years ago. I would also use the PVC to overhead speaker/ATMOS locations, even if you don't currently have that kind of setup.

    What Are You Listening To?

Prince's "1999", a double album had the fawnky hit Dance, Music, Sex, Romance (DMSR). I taped it in college on a 90-minute cassette and about wore it out. Bought 1999 on CD when CDs came out, they were able to squeeze that double album onto one CD, by leaving off one song: DMSR?!?!? Subsequent...

    What Are You Listening To?

More Louis Cole, doing the same song in a 3-piece jazz combo (he's on synth) and then with a modern "big band" (he's on drums). I didn't think "kids these days" played this kind've music...

    Pomplamoose: Monster Mask

I don't speak much french, but I could listen to her sing in french all week. In fact, I might. Beautiful!

    What Are You Listening To?

A group I should've been following for awhile, Scary Pockets: The standing guitarist, and the Wurlie player (Pomplamoose hubbie and Patreon CEO), are the guys from the "Dead Wax" channel, and the ferocious drummer is Louis Cole, a new discovery for me (his newest is in my car player, and...

    The Vulfpeck Thread

Another, what, Pedal Steel track from Vulfpeck?? Yup. He's playing a similar "beginner's model" that I did, with three foot pedals and just one knee lever (he bends his leg to his right, just at one "depth" indicating just one lever, unlike up to five that some advanced instruments feature)...

    Leonid and Friends

Totally unexpected. This popped up yesterday! The Carpenters were all over my Jr High/High School years, and I really didn't give them much thought. It wasn't until later in my life that I realized how etherial Karen's vox were, and how good Richard's arrangements are. Superstar...

    Leonid and Friends

From JrHigh to early college, my favorite band was Chicago (and I still bought their 37th album, last year?) And my favorite tune was (I've been) Searchin' So Long; kinda their version of Hey Jude. A fantastic cover.

    What Are You Listening To?

Dinner, and drinks (lotsa drinks) with Rush. I'd seen this video years ago, forgot about it, and it suddenly appeared on my ewetube feed. Makes me so happy, and so melancholy, at the same time...

    New HVAC

    >bump!< Was 64˚ in the house this morning, so I finally did a deep-dive into that stupid Lennox S40 thermostat controlling my new heat pump/furnace system. Downloaded another "Owner's Manual" which said the same damn things as the others, but I could only control the A/C temp from the...
