Media Shelves under the stairs So Chris came up this weekend to help me (ok, more like i helped him) build some swing-out media shelves underneath the stairs, so that i can retain access to the back of my equipment. The whole thing is solid oak, with a 3/4" oak plywood back. We made good use...

The other one; HT Basement build with kids area

Thanks for starting a thread. It looks a lot different than than the last time i was there. I've always been intrigued by the idea of IB, but haven't researched it enough either to know how much work it takes to pull off. I assume the door to the mechanical room would have to be extremely well...

Thanks guys. Botch, word of warning if you ever make it here: do not try to stand up on the riser while under the soffit :)

Yeah, we really do need to plan a GTG. I'll try to figure out what weekends might work for that. As for the screen, the plan is still to get a real one. I would probably go with the Elite Screens 125" 2.35:1. The wall is just primered, so it's definitely not ideal. You can see wall texture...

Thanks guys. We have been enjoying it quite a bit. Even had guests stay in the new guest room. I took some pictures this weekend. Here you go. New stools (they were cheap, but they work well enough). Back guest room. Thanks again for the Ikea chairs, B. Old skool setup in...

I should mention, with the carpet, the audio is much improved. Much less ringing in high frequencies. That said, i still want to add acoustic panels at the 1st reflection points.

Carpet! It's a dark gray, on the warm side, and matches the walls pretty darn well. Let's see, what else. Trim and doors are all painted, but i do need to touch up a couple spots. Door handles are all installed. We have minor trim work left, and have to put on the HVAC grilles, but...

    Shifting Orbits

Hey Chuck, how about an update? Have you done measurements with REW? I'd love to see a frequency graph to know where this monster actually extends down to in-room.

Granite bar top is in. Pictures aren't the greatest, as I evidently got significant reflection from the blue painters tape (we're about to paint trim).

Haha, good timing on the pic, I guess. Zing, I had no idea you were a Jets fan. My condolences :D To be fair, i don't have overly high hopes for my Giants this year either. Tom, the side bars are visible in normal viewing, but not terrible. Remember, this is just projected onto a primed...

In case you're wondering, the trim and doors will all be standard white, except for on the theater front wall. There, we will paint the doors black, same as the wall. And the trim/baseboards there will be the dark gray that is on the side walls of the theater area.

Sorry for the terrible photo, but i also built two frames, wrapped them in speaker cloth, and inserted them in the recesses at the back of the room. They turned out quite nice. Then we bought a picture frame and mounted speaker cloth inside of it to hide the Studio20 on the left side of the...
