I've just upgraded the forum software to Xenforo 2.0. Please let me know if you have any problems with it. I'm still working on installing styles... coming soon.
So far I think this new season is alright too. I agree they're still "settling" into their groove, and I think it'll be a good season. The production value is quite good so far too.
Very cool to see the design process that went into this. Just curious @Flint, is there a reason you didn't use the same driver for your own, new speaker build? Different goals, room acoustics, etc?
Good stuff! Those improvements in the new drivers are fascinating considering we're talking about physical cones that are moving back and forth, quite the engineering feat.
Over the years I've tried several times to read articles written by Steve Guttenburg, but they have never captured my interest and/or seemed very subjective. Par for the course...
I do have a pair of C1's : )
I think @Flint was making the point that I while I don't need C1's, I splurged for them. So I should splurge for building bass bins lol. Touche
Your new main speakers already look amazing, even if not yet finished! Looking forward to when you create a dedicated thread about these.
You couldn't have offered this before I got my speakers last year? I'm just kidding, but the next time I need another set of speakers, I'll likely...
Gotcha, glad to know the MiniDSP performs well enough with those added features. I too like the idea of staying in the digital domain from the CD player to the MiniDSP for crossover, etc, purposes. When we met up I had asked if you had any concerns about the multiple DAC -> ADC -> DAC...
Curiosity is getting to me haha, so a few questions, but if you're starting a new thread you can hold off on answering these -
Is the rendering of your new speakers accurate or just for illustration purposes? More specifically are you going with an MTM layout again for the upper portion of...
I'm sure it was very disappointing and disheartening when this goo issue started to happen. When you were out of state for that one job, was the HVAC system in your house turned off? Maybe extended periods of hot temperatures caused the sorbothane to melt?
Either way, it's good that this...
Oh cool, thanks for sharing! I heard about their recently announced Halo Integrated 6 (HINT 6), but figured it would take them a while to trickle the features from that to a dedicated preamp. Looks like I was wrong lol.
I really liked the idea of the original P5 preamp, but when Stereopihile...
Gotcha, yea when I said "2.1" I kind of meant crossing over the L/R channels to the sub, but I realize that wasn't clear from my post haha. Glad to hear you'll still be using the IB subs, as those are amazing!
When I was a kid I thought I would totally be into home theater and surround sound, but when I got older (and reading this forum), I realized I cared more about good reproduction of music more. Plus I don't have the room or money to do surround sound to the standards I would want, and don't...
Oh wow, this is awesome, I was a huge fan of TNG! When I heard the rumors a while back, I assumed it wouldn't happen, let's hope this new series happens!
