I've just upgraded the forum software to Xenforo 2.0. Please let me know if you have any problems with it. I'm still working on installing styles... coming soon.
Has anyone listened to his new one yet? I haven't been able to pull the trigger yet but everything else from him has been very good, or at least really interesting. If you've listened to it, would be interested to hear what you think.
Like this one? I do need a new surge protector for another room so even if it doesn't help I can still use it.

I am working at home so had some free time and I tried a little experiment (I don't work for Yahoo), just plugging in the Rotel amp with a small speaker attached by itself and plugged into another outlet (but at the same time having the TV on, other amp plugged in, basically everything running)...
They ARE out to get me. The buzz is how they communicate... :sci-fi-grayalien:
I have tried plugging the amp into a different location in the room but I think it's on the same circuit. New house so have to find another plug farther away. Unfortunately, if that helps it doesn't do me much good...
Sorry to be confusing. Here's my best explanation: The buzz originates from the TV. The way that I can tell is that when everything is on but the TV, there is no buzz. Turn on the TV and the buzz is there both coming directly from the TV and through each speaker and will change in intensity...
Good questions. I am not yet ready to throw the Rotel over the side of the boat yet. The sound was present when the speaker wires were connected and there were no cables connecting the amp to the preamp.
In terms if other connections, HDMI running out preamp (monitor out) to TV, cable box...
Victory over the bees!!! Thanks guys - I unfortunately solved the problem. I state "unfortunately" because it turns out that, one way or another, it's the amp. After moving I found my old Sherbourn 5/1500A amp and decided to hook it up one speaker at a time to see if there was any noise coming...
It has to be getting through the amp in some way. With the amp off, there is no sound through the speakers.
I am going to go through the more rigorous process Flint laid out - just didn't have the time last night to do it right. I started it but didn't have to time to complete it. Having...
I cannot figure this out. Incredibly frustrating. If I leave the TV off, it's gone. Complete silence through the speakers. Turn the amp off, complete silence with TV on. It's definitely running through the speaker wires because if a wire is disconnected from any speaker, it of course stops...
I will see. Currently on the road and will be home tonight. So to start have all the speaker wires attached, disconnect XLRs, and unplug power to everything else (except amp)? Then start adding and removing components, each on their own.
Yeah, it's odd. It's probably always there but for some reason the surrounds are really adding a lot to the noise. Remove one set of connections, either from the terminal at the amp or at the wall plate, the sound decreases. Touch the black wire to a post with one side connected and its back...
I was messing around with some stuff in a non-scientific sort of way and, for some reason, it's the right and left surround speakers that are causing the amplification of the hum(?). When I disconnect the wires from the amp or the wall terminal of the left surround, the buzz goes down a lot...
Actually it's all new. New house, new appliances, etc. But I had this happen at the old house also so probably in the system.
Thanks, Flint - will try that and report back. I am using XLR cables for interconnects and regular speaker wires coming out of the amp. So I will disconnect everything...
Hi all,
Is there anything that I can do about the following buzz problem? I have a 63" Samsung 8000 series plasma and it has a small buzz that you can hear in a silent room if the amp is not on. Not terrible but it's there. Well, turn the amp on (Rotel 1095) and now all the speakers are blaring...
Men at Work is one of your worst?? C'mon, man, I still like that one :). Colin Hay on his own has done some great work.
Mine?
Damn Yankees
Limp Bizkit (that one hurts)
Sting - Songs from the Labyrinth (and I love the Police and his solo work but that one is horrendous).
Great choice. Agreed with Joss Whedon would have been my first choice but JJ is a close second.
So what do you think the plot is going to be? Also very curious as to when the story picks up - right after jedi, a generation after, or longer? Imagine the cameo possibilities!!
That room is bad-ass. Is that a front row of C1s???
You suck. :bow-blue: Congrats on a great space!
Just curious - where did you mount the bipole speakers? I see the one in the photo.
I ask because I am in the middle of having a home built (in drywall stage) and I will have a dedicated room...
