will always be analog for me, and from 2 sources: (1) CD's, BRD's & games on PS3 (or PS4 if they ever enable CD playback) via my H/K receiver headphone jack, and (2) Zune w/WMA lossless files. i guess also possibly from my computer's soundcard (Asus Xonar DX, also analog), but i never really do...
oh, sorry. i guess i should have said that battery powered is all i will consider at this point. though i do not intend to take the HD600's outside, i can easily imagine taking them all over the house and i definitely don't want to plug them in everywhere they go. occasional recharging is all i...
ok guys, what do you think about these:

I am glad to read these posts because I just started the thread about my recent purchase of a new set of Senn HD600's and the responses I got so far are making me feel they are almost useless without spending another a couple hundred on an amp. alto i am sure most are still going to say this...
Ok. Well of course I'm gonna try them alone before doing anything but this is the sort of thing that will knaw at me, so I'm sure I'll end up getting some kind of amp, and most likely SS. Great tip on the head-fi classifieds, thanks. I'll post some links when I get to that point to get you all's...
OK, so for the sake of my marriage answer this as honestly as possible:
Is it . . .
(1) To really hear what the Senns were designed to do you need the amp, but they are still awesome without one.
or
(2) If you don't use a HP amp then there's really no reason to have the Senns at all.
If...
thanks.
so i am afraid to ask, but i do i really need a headphone amp if i have a headphone jack on my receiver (H/K 3490)?
(and i know you'd all hate me for using these with my Zune player so i won't even ask about that.)
Just ordered mine! Been looking for an excuse to get a set all year, so an early birthday present. I expect these to easily take the top spot away from my current favorite V-Moda M-80's. FINALLY - YEA!
another big Auodioengine A2 fan here. $200 and a very, very nice sound. been using for about 4 years now and have never been tempted to look for anything else for my desktop, and that's really saying something. read up on them. if you have a nice sound card with a 3.5mm out then you don't need...
so a month or so in and i really like this little thing! very good clarity and balance for what it is. nice, prominent mids and the low end drops off where it should for the size (no unnaturally bloated eq). my only complaint is in the very high end: a bit too much sizzle and air. things like...
yeah, i love me some Canadian speakers that's for sure. though once i have some money i don't know what to do with i'll probably be looking across the pond to Denmark. (that's where Dynaudio is, right?)
yeah, the 850 is definitely a bit large to be truly portable. not the best for small luggage, to be sure. but it's right in the wheelhouse of what i need - i gladly chose sound quality over portability. it will be used all over my house (kitchen, front stoop, anywhere my main system can't...

Became interested in BT portable speakers in the last couple weeks and stumbled on this sale. Reviews seem to be almost unanimously rave, including claims that it's very comparable to the Jawbone Big Jambox, both in size and sound. Having...
i did, albeit very briefly. there really don't seem to be that many anymore. Outlaw was the standout, but it's more expensive and frankly i don't like how they look. as for the H/K 3xx0 series: less expensive, very well reviewed, i like the minimalist design and i really like (and am used to)...
yeah, ok. worth giving them a twist to see what that does. but the only "listening position" in this room is on the bed, which is 90 degrees and about a foot lower from their firing line. to be right in front of them i'd be standing in the middle of the room. so it would be a purely academic...
ok, so an update on the break in issue: six months of regular use (often damn loud) and it just didn't happen. i use the same EQ settings as i did out of the box and i still call them a bit bright. not bright enough to make me want to dump them or anything, they're still in that acceptable range...
cool unit. last winter i got the Yamaha CRX332 for a small bedroom system. looks to be nearly the same animal, altho your Teac has a lot more i-inputs and that sub out so that' cool. i only use mine for radio and Zune playing thru a pair of small PSB bookshelf speakers so i didn't need all that...
Thanks for the input, fellas. I mean it sounds great with the AV Multi through my HK 3480 and Paradigm Studio 20 2.1 setup, no doubt. Guess I just had one of those "could it sound even better?" moments of weakness.
and btw, i've read some less than stellar stuff about the HK 3770 (the model...
I use my PS3 as both my movie and CD player. I send the HDMI to the TV but I only have analog input on my old HK 3480 2 ch receiver so I use the AV Multi cable that came with the PS3 to send the analog audio to my receiver. I usually mute the TV audio and get all my sound from the full hifi...
