I've just upgraded the forum software to Xenforo 2.0. Please let me know if you have any problems with it. I'm still working on installing styles... coming soon.
ok the ZERO's arrived and i'm VERY impressed. these just sound nice and natural, period. the bottom is tight and full but does indeed lack some impact, as many say about the typical HiFiMan signtaure. mids are almost perfect - i'd maybe have them just a bit overall warmer. but i have no...
ok so i've lived with the M50's for a few days now, including a couple walks around the city, and i hate to be fickle but i'm kinda loving them now and i'm definitely keeping them. it's just a very fun, full and engaging sound. yes, i could do without the omnipresent low rumble and a slightly...
such is my life. i'm starting to think no headphones might be better for me than an affordable set i don't love, then save up and/or sell some stuff until i can satisfy the balance sheet. i'm definitely gonna seriously consider the K/Q 701's. i mean $250 is really not all that bad if they hit my...
ok so i received the ZX700's and i don't get it all. my high hopes were completely dashed. no lows, no life, just completely flat to me. and not flat in a good reference monitor sorta way, but 2 dimensional and frankly cheap. the only good thing i can say is i appreciated the smoother rolled off...
thanks for the input, all. yeah this is fun stuff, and really i'm no stranger to audio obsession as i went through the same thing with speakers for my home system, not to mention the biggest rabbit hole of them all: music gear (guitar). i have over 5000 posts on guitar gear forums - yikes!
btw...
ok, cool. i guess we'll just see how they sound and feel. my wife's not all that picky so i'm almost positive she'll love them, considering how long she has been using the random junk set she got at the AT&T store with her phone. i'm certainly very anxious to hear them. fwiw i debated a bit...
I'm mostly new to all things headphone/IEM/etc and while searching for my first set of cans (see my other thread) and my wife showed an interest when my first couple sets arrived today (M50's and 7506's). She commutes and is interested in finding something better than the stock earbuds that came...
OK got 'em both and listening now. Here we go with some quick first impressions:
Audio-Technica ATH-M50
The deep bass is too much for me, yet they seem to also somehow lack a little in the "normal" to upper bass range. High end is really close, though if I'm being picky (and why wouldn't I?)...
interesting. i'll give those a good read when i have more time. thanks!
you know, i should mention that it does sound quite good right now by ear. it's just that sometimes i swear i here a bump, sometimes a gap, sometimes too much, sometimes too little, sometimes boomy and sometimes nice &...
ok so i haven't had a lot of time to mess with the calibration but i have tried a couple of short sessions and i'm definitely having trouble. i'm just not getting the seamless integration thing happening. the REW software seems to work fine but i think the mic i'm using is just not linear...
gosh, after doing more reading (compulsively, i'll say) i wonder if i should have ordered the ZX700 instead of the 7506 to A/B against the M50's. any thoughts? i don't think they have shipped yet so i can still cancel and reorder.
yeah can't wait to try 'em, tho reviews are all over the place. bottom line seems to be that neither is especially flat response so we'll see. since i can handle low end push more than brightness (again i really like the PX 100's) i'm guessing i'm gonna like the M50's more due to the smoother...
i decided i do want to go with circumaural so that eliminates the Grado's, for better or worse. and since obviously no one can really tell me what i'd prefer i just ordered both the MDR7506 and ATH-M50 from Amazon and i'll send back the loser. i'll report back. thanks for your input.
