Really cool overview of how Pomplamoose works, and how to make a living as a "content creator".

Every year, since I was a teen, I've watched the Grammy Awards. And for the last 15 years or so, I've always promised myself "this is the last time"; but, there was almost always a small slice of an artist that caught my ear, and I ended up being a fan (Seal, Take 6, some mexican guitarist...

    What Are You Listening To?

Jacob Collier plays with himself! I've been an active musician, and visited innumerable music stores, but I've yet to see/play with a steel drum (they have such an exotic sound!). Here, Jacob hits one a bit, but it's inverted, and it looks like the different "notes" are actually cut away...

    What Are You Listening To?

Haven't seen anything from Pomplamoose in a long time; here's Nuclear Kittens. I don't speak French but I could listen to her sing it all day.

    Jacob Collier

Here, he answers some questions from the internet; most of them are pretty basic but I did learn that the human voice's overtones form a major chord, which I did not know. But, at 10:00 or so, he demonstrates polyrhythms, 3 beats/measure with one hand and 5 b/m with the other (I used to be able...

    Official Sim Racing Thread

It's not about a racing sim, but there's a thread over on macrumors.com that's just exploding. Just in time for the (delayed) release of the Apple Vision Pro, a company has updated its 14-yr-old iPhone game "Fruit Ninja", where you'll be able to chop fruit with your hands on your $4,000 AVP...

What are you watching via streaming?

Coming to Apple TV+ on the 26th! Made by the same folks that did Band of Brothers and The Pacific.

What are you watching via streaming?

I use YoutubeTV as my streaming service, and it allows me to record all games from team(s) of my choice, no matter which service they're on (assuming I have access to that service, I think), and the unlimited cloud DVR will record the games for watching later. YoutubeTV has doubled in price...

Interesting Factoid: the control stick on the General Dynamics F-16 (circa 1976 or so) uses the same system, and it was not a long stick between the pilot's legs (ahem) but a short, game-controller-sized handle on the right-hand side of the cockpit. I don't know if there are any F-16 cockpits...

What Movie(s) Did You Watch Today?

I did watch the first episode of Ted Lasso. Knowing how popular it became, was kinda cool to see the story line "seeds" being planted; but I haven't had the desire to watch more, mebbe give it a couple more episodes. Right now, I'd rather watch the vikings get beat! :fight:

What Movie(s) Did You Watch Today?

Thanks for the clarification, Tom. I did figure out that, when I request a show by name, Siri shows me the different options, if there are more than one.

What Movie(s) Did You Watch Today?

I installed an Apple TV 4K a few weeks ago, mainly to bypass the poor GoogleTV OS built into my new Sony TV, and it works SOOO much better; great purchase for me. I got 3 free months of Apple TV (the app, not the hardware) with my purchase. I finally started futzing around with it today...

    Rick Beato

Here Rick comments over a very early, daytime-TV-live, interview by Dick Cavett of Oscar Peterson, while he demo's at the piano what he's talking about. Fascinating, a lot of it over my head, and prolly for the first time ever I was wishing Rick would shut up, so we could just hear the original...

    What Are You Listening To?

Another recent KC video that I was unfamiliar with. In the latter years of me playing live, I refused to even audition with any band that had two or more guitar players, it was always just an audio mess. Yet, here, two guitarists and (horror of horrors!) THREE drummers!! Yet, the interplay...
