Went to start watching Season 7 of Black Mirror on the treadmill this weekend and realized that I completely missed season 6 (oops). So now I have two full seasons to binge watch on the treadmill. Guess I have to up my mileage.
Some additional thoughts 24hrs later after processing a little more of what I watched. Also spoke about it with a close friend who is an experienced Iraq/Afghanistan combat veteran. Upon review and reflection what appeared initially to be a very simple story feels like it had more depth then at...
Went this morning to an early showing. Don’t go if you are expecting an epic war movie like Saving Private Ryan, 1917, etc. This is more like a totally immersive and at times shockingly loud and horrific reality TV experience. That’s not a criticism just a genre clarification for anyone...
All personal or movie critic opinions of story/acting/etc. aside... Tron 2 was one of the best IMAX movie presentations I have ever seen or heard with Daft Punk soundtrack adding to immersive and very loud musical score. Looking forward to Tron 3 on the big screen hopefully just as big and loud...
Anyone game on an LG OLED? My buddy just picked up a 65" G4 and I am going there next week to help him run through all the calibration settings to try and optimize for gaming (currently on an XBOX One maybe updating to and X console). I found a few videos on YouTube just checking if anyone here...
We watched it Saturday streaming on MAX. As cat people we definitely loved it so thanks for the heads up. But also just as a straight up creative and compelling little animated movie we also loved it.
It's right in line with traditional vampire lore although I do like how he tied it in to some historical plague timeline stuff. Same observation I had about The Witch... he used some of the historically appropriate paranoia and fear to enhance the storyline. He mixes myth and history very nicely...
Watched The Gorge on Apple TV+ it was OK but not great. Some decent creature hoard fighting scenes if you are a zombie hoard fighting video gamer you might appreciate these visuals. Otherwise a little cheesy we thought.
Another great song/band discovered on this Infinite Darkness channel... Chelsea Wolfe has some strong Tom Yorke vocal vibes with a touch of Angel Olsen...
Equally good live band which is always a good sign...
When not listening to metal I am occasionally a fan of the 80's New Order/Depeche Mode/Killing Joke/Cure sound having grown up hearing a whole lot of it in middle and high school. Found this channel on Sonos called Infinite Darkness which plays a lot of it old and new. Didn't realize there was a...
I thought it was watchable but by no means great. It did get me reading about some of the history from this period which was ultimately probably more interesting then the show itself.
Half way through six episode Western series American Primeval on Netflix. Pretty engaging so far. Style (albeit not necessarily substance) lands somewhere in between The Revenant and Hostiles.
We went to 9:30am showing Christmas morning the theater was packed. Did not disappoint. Eggers (fast becoming my favorite modern director) has pretty much reset the bar for the classic vampire story IMO. Masterful retelling of the traditional story somehow simultaneously felt both familiar but...
