24Hz on a 60Hz LED TV

So last week I mentioned how I bought a Roku for my master bedroom and this initiated a switching of gear where I moved my Smart Bluray player into my great room as when streaming Vudu it is quiter and doesn't use as much power as my PS 3. So I just hooked up my older PS 3 into my master bedroom as I know it will just sit there and gather dust as my Roku will now be used 95% of the time instead of the Bluray player in the PS3 ( I mentioned I haven't played a Bluray in a year or so. So anyway last night on a whim I had forgotten to change the PS3 output from 1080i (which my Pioneer RPTV uses) to 1080p now that it's hooked up to my LED anyway I noticed that the PS3 can play Blurays at 1080p/24Hz and on a whim selected that (figuring since my LED is a 60Hz nothing would happen but all of a sudden the PQ really took a leap forward as compared to 1080p/60Hz. Now this makes no sense to me as my PS 3 is being fed to my DVDO Edge which is ouputting 1080p/60Hz on all sources but there I sat amazed at how better the image looked.

So today I thought what would happen if I set my DVDO Edge to output all sources at 1080p/24Hz which it will do so I was watching Captain America 2 on Vudu when I switched the DVDO to 1080p/24Hz and even Vudu via the Roku suddenly looked better. I checked my LG and it can only do 60Hz so then why is the picture so much better. It's obvious the TV is using 3:2 pull down to achieve 60hz but wouldn't my source material look better at 60Hz native to the display?

I then wondered if there was too much 3:2 pull down occurring first with the PS3 then the DVDO set to 1080p/60Hz to finally the TV internally set to 60Hz but all my gear now looks better with the DVDO outputting everything at 1080/24Hz and the TV doing the 3:2 to achieve the 1080p/60Hz.

It was a noticeable improvement and I've read up on people who get flutter on panning shots in movies with 24Hz but while watching Captain America I was specifically looking for this and couldn't detect a hint of flutter just a clearer picture. Has anyone else noticed an improvement when setting their devices to 24Hz. I've read it works well with plasma and 120hz/240Hz TV's but not so much with 60Hz sets but mine looks fantastic and I'm wondering why.
