Acuity Flagpole Project-Mortenson...

Back when I was a kid, I used to think it would be cool if someone would build a skyscraper out in the middle of nowhere. Something so tall that you'd see it for miles. Not very practical, of course. But now this gets me to thinking. Maybe someone should build a giant flag that's a few times bigger than Sheyboygan's. Find some flatlands. Make it an attraction. If I'm Mortenson, I'm calling up South Dakota right now. I'm sure there's a rest stop somewhere along I-90 where it would be perfect!

This monstrosity is built in the middle of the Bonneville Salt Flats, driving from SLC to Nevada. I can't remember what its called or what it's supposed to represent; it's several stories tall and you can see it for many miles. Ick.
Most rest areas in South Dakota already have a 2, 3-story-tall concrete "teepee".

Again, Ick.

Whaaaaaaaa??!!! I love the tepees. Not as much as I'd love a giant flag, though. Gonna agree with you on that weird atomic-lookin tennis ball wearin' salt flat tower thing. Nonetheless, I bet it kicks ass as far as monstrosities go. The Eiffel Tower's got nuthin' on it.
