Ari Aster (Horror Director: Hereditary, Midsommar)

I saw Midsommar Tuesday night. If you are a fan of up and coming horror director Ari Aster and liked his first film Hereditary then this is a must see follow up. Very different setting but similar style with Pagan horror theme and constant sense of dread. Strangely and darkly comic at times probably intentionally to lull the audience into a false sense of comfort before all heck breaks loose. I won't spoil it with any detailed comments other then to compare it to Hereditary in this way. Beyond the obvious Pagan horror themes they present as follows...

Hereditary = Extreme dysfunctional family horror movie.
Midsommar = Extreme relationship break up horror movie.

I would also caution that like Hereditary this movie is absolutely not for the faint of heart.
