Beyonce..

I need to preface this with, I'm generally a rock guy. My favorite band is an american Irish-folk-punk-rock band (Flogging Molly). So what this means is that I really don't have a much of a basis to judge her work.

But.

I don't get it.

I don't hate her music by any stretch, but I don't get how she's been elevated to the status that she has. Adele won best song, album and record. Most of what I've read today is that Beyonce was snubbed for 1 or more of those awards. But I'd counter and say Adele has a better voice and repertoire of songs. But I also recognize it is probably just a matter of taste.

So i'm wondering if other members who do like her style can tell me why she's given the accolades she has. And I swear I don't mean that in a negative way, i just don't see it and would like to know what it is people like so much.

I get it. I flat out HATE her music, but she has found a way to break new ground and redefine music every single time she releases something new. Her ability to always be performing and nailing style, character, and fashion is also pretty darn amazing. She is very impressive and respect her as an artist, performer, and groundbreaker in much the same way I respect Prince and Michael Jackson. I don't like either's work, but I respect them.

Adele, however, isn't breaking new anything. She is a throw-back to past styles of music and is doing it very well, but it isn't incredibly creative.

So, sort of what I perceive Madonna to have been back in the 80's/90's then. I don't pay attention to Beyonce's stuff at all to see what you mentioned.

Adele is a great singer..............

Beyonce is a great entertainer.................

I'm fairly certain nobody in this forum is even anywhere near the target audience for Beyonce.
I liked her stuff prior to Lemonade, but it never really pulled me in as much as it has the younger...generation?
She does seem to promote a strength of character for women and her fans, though. Maybe that is how so many have drank the kool-aid?
