Bought new speakers.

They are the Hsu Hb1 Mk2. I had an Onkyo receiver that crapped out on me and thought that I should upgrade. I had Insignia's that I had modified and felt it was time to get new speakers. The receiver I got was a Yamaha RX V375 refurbished from accessories4less for $200. I've had them since Tuesday, but haven't had much time yet to sit down and really listen to them. I have an SVS sub, but haven't hooked it up to the receiver yet. I want to get a good listen to just the speakers before I connect it. When I get time I post a review of them here.

Very nice!

Sorry to hear about the Onkyo receiver just a quick guess it was the HDMI board? I have a TX SR 705 there are complaints to Onkyo as long as the Jolly Green Giants arm with issues on this. I've been looking a new receiver myself haven't settled on the one yet but im certain it wont be Onkyo. I also have a 4 year old Samsung Plasma TV that the panel is going out have dead vertical pixel lines forming like and multiplying like a virus. Once again complaints out the ying yang so ive taken anything Onkyo and Samsung off my list.

Love forward to hearing your experience with the Yamaha.

Hooray, someone bought some new speakers! That's cool, haven't heard anything about how these sound, looking forward to your impressions.

Congratulations! :text-welcomeconfetti:

Well, it's time to sit down and listen to those Beautiful speakers. I think it's a great idea to leave the sub out of the set up for now and see how the speakers really sound without it. I also look forward to hearing how they sound with the SVS, as a three way speaker.

A big YOU SUCK fer sure and again, congratulations on getting new speakers! :bow-blue:

Congrats!!
Those things reviewed pretty well. They are supposed to be pretty good little speakers.

Excellent, Xg! I think you're going to be extremely happy with those coming from the Insignias.

:text-bravo:

There was an audio gathering in the Tampa area a year ago that I attended. There I met up with a local friend - and ScubaBob.

HSU was one of the OEM's present with a listening room and they were featuring those little speakers - paired with one of their subs.

With sub off they sounded pretty decent. The matched up nicely with sub on. (They really do need a sub IMO.)

My local friend (who own K-Horns, Koss CM/1030s, etc.) was impressed enough with them that he ordered a pair on the spot for his daughter.

I'm not sure what happened to it. One day I turned it on and it started making a clicking sound then it just flashed volume 30 on the front. I did a reset and that didn't fix it. I also unplugged it and let it sit for a day and tried it again and it did the same thing. So I said screw it time for an updgrade.

I thought I posted a reply, but it seems to have disappeared....

Anyways, any update on your thoughts of the speaker performance?

With school and work I forgot all about doing a review. I enjoy these speakers a lot. For about a month I listened to them without a sub. I threw all my cd's and movies at them to get a good idea for them. I set them up as recommended by the instructions. With music and movies I found them to be bright, but not so much to where they bothered me. I think they are very detailed, when listening to music I feel like I can see the instruments being played in my head. The guitar is what really stood out for me. When it comes to movies dialogue is clear and the soundtracks in the movies really stand out for me. I popped in Die Hard on blu ray, and thought they sounded great for a 25 year old movie. I would recommend listening to them with a sub connected. I think if someone is looking to buy budget speakers I would recommend these.
