British Crime/Police Shows

As I mentioned in the Roku thread I have gotten into British TV in the last couple years, primarily British crime/police shows. some of my favorites:

George Gently (or Inspector Gently) - IMO the BEST British detective series out there. Inspector George Gently is getting on in years and due to his fight of corruption at Scotland Yard he gets transferred to the boonies. He has a Detective Sergent, John Bacchus, that initially is a real douche bag but slow;y comes around. Has been on Netflix but ACORN TV (Roku channel) has all 7 seasons.

Foyle's War - Foyle investigates and fights crime in WWII era England. Close to Georg Gently in quality. Available on Netflix and ACORN.

Midsommer Murders - Early episodes are better and it follows a formula much like Columbo or Murder She Wrote. Each episode a different series of murders with a multitude of mostlly British famous actors. Available on Netflix

Other shows I like include:

A Touch of Frost
New Tricks
Inspector Morris
Lewis
Endevour
Death in Paradise
DCI Banks
Murder in Suburbia
Prime Suspect
Ripper Street

I don't care at all for Poirot or Miss Marple.

The Commish - I remember this one from when i lived over there in the 80's, great show, not sure where you'd find it.

I have watched Luther and for what ever reason could not get into it.

What about Sherlock (The one with Benedict Cumberbatch)? I like that show a lot.



Been wondering about Luther. Might have to give it a go.
