... performed my my church choir (including the wife and me) yesterday. I didn't know this work before, but I really grew to love it over the course of our rehearsing and performing it.

 
Nice performance but a shame that there does not seem to be that many people in the audience to hear it - or was everyone too shy to sit in the first six rows of pews that the camera showed?

Did you do multiple performances or was it just this one?

Just the one. And yeah, our church was one of those big city churches that held 800+ people in its heyday in the 50's, but now has dwindled with urban flight. We're hanging on, but it's not easy in this day and age, and with a big building to support. But we have a long tradition, and the architect of the main sanctuary was the same fellow (John Russell Pope) who did the Jefferson Memorial in Washington, DC, and other local landmarks.
