Buying a projector.

Well, after carefull consideration the wife and I decided that the downstairs tv area is not for serious tv watching. Basially if you are watching something downstairs, everyone hears it. Unless all the doors are closed. so we are moving our tv couch upstairs to the bonus room and installing a projector. Before and I go buy the model below, are any of you clowns upgrading soon?

I went with a PowerLite based on Zing gushing over his 5010. Unfortunately I haven't had much of a chance to play with mine yet - I've had it in a temporary setup a couple of times projected against a dark wall and it looked pretty damn good.

I was planning on a 5010 but my dealer was able to convince me to go with a 6010 instead...

You better not ask Batman about me then as that probably won't help your opinion any...

Sorry to stomp on your thread Maximo - one of these days I'll start my own.

what does the 6010 do that the 5010 does not?

Not much. Exterior is black instead of white and includes a cable cover for a cleaner look, THX modes that produce more accurate color right out of the box, includes two pairs of 3D glasses, an extra bulb, and a better warranty.

How much more?

Oh, I forgot that a nice Chief ceiling mount is also included.

You have to buy the 6010 through an authorized dealer so it depends on how low they're willing to go. I think my dealer said they usually sell them for around $3300. I paid a fair amount less than that but I'm hesitant to disclose the exact price because it was very much influenced by how much business I've given them this year...

I have been doing some research on projectors for the future but have read several times about problems with blooming and blur insets when ceiling mounted.

What is all that about because I would most likely mount one on the ceiling?

I haven't got a clue. I've never read such a thing and I've certainly never seen such a thing.

It was all in customer reviews not any serious reviews.

Sorry I should have made that clear.

Only when ceiling mounted? Do the light waves not like being flipped over?

Ok, so we are about a week or two out from picking up the projector. I need a mount anda screen. What kinds of mounts are recomended? They all seem the same.
