The war is over, and as such MattB and the Cine Capri lie crushed under the weight of Sonic Whole OverHead Sound via the JBL's . Bloody Hell, Ashely did it he defeated his nemesis the Rotund One, just goes to show you can't beat CraZy :teasing-tease:

The Dolby Theatre now features a new system with 164 speakers and 200 channels of amplification. JBL made the speaker arrays behind the screen and the system’s 14 subwoofers, each of which has dual 18-inch drivers, all powered by Crown amps. The surround speakers, which are designed for a dynamic range very close to that of the screen speakers, are made by Meyer Sound.

In addition to surrounds all around the sides and back of the theater, there are also two trusses above the audience. Each truss holds 22 speakers.

According to Ramzi Haidamus, Dolby EVP sales and marketing, Dolby Atmos theater processors will be launching in about a year. The company has announced no specific plans for launching Atmos in the home market

Ashley you are a man ahead of your time, a True Visionary in the field of surround sound

So installing the height surround is not difficult, first look at your AVR to see if it can support the height surround for some this well be an easy task, selecting small easy to install with mounting features now this maybe the single most part of the surround array costing the most, but over the professional application this well still be on the affordable level, the type of chosen loudspeaker Id recommend direct JBL control 1 monitors are a top choice, but adding 24 will be costly even at bargain prices so look carefully, and look at the technical specifications, wiring this huge overhead array impendence must not be overlooked and series wiring will be the selected configuration, power handling and amplification delivered to this huge array.

"What?

I have never seen a receiver with "Height Surroud". Can you show me one that does?

Do you have left & right surround, rear surround, and height surround? How do you decode height surround and rear surround from the same rear signal?'

Even a Guru cannot with stand the Logic of the Great Ashley,

I can see Ashley wearing those bunny ears and lifting his juice box on high laughing that laugh you know the kind that bat shit crazy whack jobs tripping balls on Thorazine make. Ashley must be stocking up on cheap 20.00 speakers and outdated prologic receivers to make this latest THX dream a reality.

Ash reads theater related mags. He just repeated it on forums without footnoting it (he is unable to for obvious reason).

Re: Dolby Theatre with Atmos, aka Sonic Whole Overhead Soun

I never thought the idea of a bunch of over-head speakers were a bad idea. The problem was the processing; splitting and rematrixing (is that a word?) the same channel over and over is just goofy. So... If a standard is developed to encode all those channels becomes a reality... why not?
