entry level Yammy

Since I am have moved in with my girlfriend I have decided that her old CRT has got to go; but that's a different topic.

now, I need a receiver with HDMI. I currently have the Harmon Kardon av-330, no HDMI

Was looking at the entry level Yammy RX-V373BL...I will be useing my Klipsch RB-61 and RC-52 with a JBL sub.

Think I will like this? I do like the sound the HK puts out and the power as always been enough for me. Just never owned a yammy.

Thoughts? suggestions?

Are you running a 5.1 system and want HD audio from BluRay discs? How many HDMI sources do you have? How many HDMI inputs are on the TV?

If you like your HK and if your TV has enough inputs you can connect your HDMI sources to your TV and usei it's optical out to the receiver. This may get you by until you can get something other than an "entry level" receiver.

That said I don't think there will be a tremendous sound improvement as you move up the chain of receivers. Certainly some but the the differences will have more to do with the number of ins/outs, setup options, GUIs, etc.

See if you can stretch your budget and go with the Yamaha RX-V471.

I bought one two months ago for my secondary system and could not be happier. The extra $50 or so will be well worth it.

EDIT : there is only a $5.00 difference, I was looking at the 371 not the 373.

Why?
Sorry I was looking at the old v-371. On Amazon there is only a $5.00 difference between the v-471 that I have and v-373.

My comment was purely subjective based on my positive experience with the v-471. Just figured getting something someone has experience with would be a plus

Yamaha makes nice receivers at about all price points.
Safe way to go, and will run the setup you have with no problem.

Get the connections you want/need and you're set. (for now) :happy-smileygiantred:

That's how I've been running it. The only input I have is the PS3. For now we are just running OTA antenna. I was thinking I wanted the HDMI inputs for convenience and the BluRay audio formats.
Yes i need nothing more than a 5.1, actually I'm not even running surrounds at the moment; it's a 3.1

The tv's I've been looking at only have 2 inputs. The Panasonic tc-p50u50 and a samsung 51" plasma
