Expendables ?

Barney

Longhorns, Cowboys, Spurs, & Rangers...love Texas
Me & my son love this movie....stream it off Netflex. Looking forward to Expendables 2 in Aug 2012....& understand that Expendables3 is already in the works. Anybody else excitied about this ?

im not certain as to why everyone loves this movie. personally, i felt like i was watching a big B movie and script, with a huge production company.

nonetheless, it was a fun ride, a forgetful one in my book, but a good one.

its like Rambo and friends.

That's why I liked it. Yeah it has major cheese factor, but reminds me of the action movies of the 80s. That's why I dug it.

I enjoyed this movie on Netflix streaming but Stalone's face was scarey like he had just had some plastic surgery done and was still healing and his mouth was frozen.

What I did not like about the first one was, most of the fight scenes were shot in dim light with everybody wearing black. An exception would be the Dolph Lungren Jet Li fight scene. Also as is typical in Hollywood these days most fight scenes use a ton of close shots and almost no wide angle camera work. Hopefully this will be corrected in Expendables 2, especially in Van Damme's fight scenes as that is what helped make him famous.

Gina Carrano mentioned that her film Haywire, takes the old school approach with a lot of wide angle camera work. With all close up camera work what's even the point of a fight scene, anybody could be made to look like they were kicking ass but no one would care.

with regards to haywire, i thought that was a great movie. its not exceptionally good, but man, until you mentioned the wide angle shots, i definitely can relate. it also reminded me of the debt. subtle, non flamboyant scenes, but definitely cqc based.

i love the fact that we all have different taste with action flicks, and in general, appreciate different angles.

i also love streaming. in fact, i also love the fact that most of the movies on tnt and other hd channels, are at 1:85 ratio! yay! is it what the 'director' wants? not really, but at least i get to use all the tv space AND didnt pay for the blu-ray either.

end rant.

Best scene in that movie was when Terry Crews picks up that shotgun with the cylinder chambers and starts shooting the crap out of baddies in the tunnel. Holy crap did that give my sub a workout. Now that the sequel has Chuck Norris, there was no need for any other member to go along on the mission.

Also I noticed something....does Stalone have an injury to his neck/back ? When he was tieing the plan up on the dock, when he turned to look around...he didn't turn his neck...just his whole body.

Regarding Stallone's neck. I believe he broke it during the scene when Stone Cold Steve Austin tackled him. The best martial arts in the first movie was done by Gary Daniels when we kicking the crap out of one of Stallone's men. Matt you are right Terry Crews and that badass gun he had were awesome.

Another movie I liked. I tend to gravitate to movies lioke this........ brain off....... fun movies. Looking forward to the second one for sure!
