Fall 2015: New TV Shows

Thought I'd see if I could everyone's take on the new shows premiering this fall...

Agent X
American Horror Story: Hotel................Hoping this one is more like season 1 than seasons 3 or 4
Angel from Hell
Bastard Executioner, The......................Trying to capitalize on the Game of Thrones success, this falls short of that mark by a lot. But, so far, I'm ok with it.
Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris
Blindspot............................................So far I'm in, but this one could easily go sideways
Blood & Oil
Blunt Talk
Chicago Med
Code Black
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend
Dr. Ken
Expanse, The
Flesh & Bone
Grandfathered
Grinder, The
Heroes Reborn............................I like it so far. Feels more like season 1, but there are issues...
Last Kingdom, The
Limitless....................................Seen the movie? Then you get the idea. I'll keep watching for a bit more, but may give up on it.
Live in Pieces
Minority Report...........................Recorded, but haven't seen it yet
Muppets, The..............................I was left a little flat with Ep 1. Maybe it picks up as they get their groove.
Player, The
Public Morals
Quantico....................................Recorded -- the lead is SERIOUS eye candy. I might not care about the script if she's in it...
Rosewood
Scream Queens...........................Pretty campy (on purpose) and I'm not sure in a good way. Give it one or two more and I may stop
Ash vs. Evil Dead.........................Not out yet, but DEFINITELY the show I'm most excited about. The movies are how campy should be done
Supergirl....................................I'll be giving it a try. Too bad it's not on the CW so they could cross their story lines
Truth Be Told
Wicked City

If I didn't leave a comment, I'm probably not going to start. And most of those that I did are likely going to be cut off too. If I like the premise, I'll generally give it between 2-3 to see if they get their groove or if I see promise.

Not a big TV guy at all, but I find it interesting that a lot of the "new" sources for TV series (HBO, Google, etc) are getting very high ratings for quality TV, but the quantity is such that, who has time to watch them all? Then I think back on the 3 channels of (mostly) crap I grew up with, wow.

I thought Blindspot had some serious plot problems. I was also annoyed by the clear lack of good research by the writers. One that bugged me was that they were having trouble reading Chinese because it was a rare dialect. Written Chinese is the same regardless of dialect. The spoken languages vary. The written language does not. Anyone with any exposure to Chinese knows this, so that was just plain stupid. A female Seal? Really guys? Women cannot even get through Ranger training with special help. There is absolutely no way a female can make it through Seal training. Also, her fighting skills were not all that. Again, dumb, distracting and unnecessary. It is lazy bullshit like this that keeps many network shows from rising to the level of their cable counterparts. It is the same kind of idiocy that doomed the execrable CSI Miami where the "high powered sniper rifle" they found was very obviously a Ruger 10/22 (a .22LR plinker you can buy at Walmart).

I loved Scream Queens I watched it with no intention of liking it but I was howling with laughter. It's hilarious to me that the censors had no idea what a "blumkin" was as if they did they'd never let that go on a primetime show but they did. I loved all the 80's music and just the campiness of it all. The Nick Jonas being gay was hilarious.

I also liked "The Player" with Wesley Snipes too bad it's one of those shows that will run its course very fast and probably be cancelled as shows like this burn bright too fast then just fade away.

Refuse to watch Limitless as I hated the movie so won't even give the show a chance.

Blind spot was interesting but also very far fetched. I'll give that one a few more watchings.

Minority Report spent all its budget on special effects and not actors or writing so I don't have much hope for this one.

I loved Heroes so hoping Heroes reborn does well but it may just be a rehashed "Agents of Shield".

I too look forward to Ash vs Evil Dead.

Some updates..

Heroes Reborn... losing faith
Blindspot... apparently it's getting great ratings. However, I think I'm with Haywood on this one, it's getting a little dumm (sic)
Minority Report... apparently it's getting AWFUL ratings. Which is too bad, because I kind of like it.
Muppets... meh.

We watched the pilot for Dr. Ken last night and thought it was hilarious.
We watched the pilot for the Bastard Executioner and I thought it was a bit dark, even for me.
Blindspot seems to be getting better, but is still kind of meh for me.
We've only seen the pilot for Minority Report, so I'll withhold judgement for now.
The first couple episodes of Heroes Reborn were alright, but I'm a few behind.
My wife likes Quantico. I'm less convinced.

It is not new this season, but we stumbled across season one of this CW show on Netflix and loved it. This is season two. iZombie is a hilarious twist on the police procedural that is charming and fun.
