Five rockstars who are musical geniuses

There was only one artist who I had already known was a musical genius. The other 4 were indeed surprising.

:text-goodpost:

Prince DID NOT surprise me! The others, yes. I have always loved Winger & White Lion, listened to them a lot in the late 80's & into the 90's. John Mayer was quite surprising. Extreme, I liked 'Hole Hearted'.

Again, :text-goodpost: Botch!

Eh... many of the vids didn't work, copyright infringement, so it's hard to judge. The text was kinda over-written IMHO. These guys are ok... for pop/rock guitarists. :eek:bscene-buttred:

I like that. Honestly I was fans of all of them and have always been WOWED by Prince, Nuno Bettencourt, and Vito Bratta. The solo in White Lion's Wait is one of my favorite guitar solos from that era.

I have been digging John Mayer a lot lately. Prince is and always has been a monster.

I knew about Reb Beach but was not really familiar with him except that he replaced George Lynch in Dokken. I did not know he was in Winger and wasn't really familiar with a lot of his work.

I believe the writer used the term "Musical Genius" incorrectly. Ability to play really difficult parts on your instrument is not a sign of genius, it is a sign of very hard work, acquired skills, and creativity around the instrument. To me, a musical genius is someone like Paul McCartney, Frank Zappa, Pete Townshend, Neal Morse, etc. who can write brilliant music that is damn near perfect regardless of who is playing it.

Prince, by the way, is a musical genius. I personally do not enjoy his tastes, but his genius is very apparent.

I disagree, throwing Paul McCartney in your pool of "musical genius's" completely destroys your credibility on the subject. :teasing-tease:

Deciding which musicians are geniuses depends on each listeners tastes.
