Forthcoming Superhero Movies

"The Hollywood Reporter says the Superman and Batman combo will kick-off a three year rush in DC comics movies, culminating with the debut of the Justice League. Apparently a Flash movie is slated for 2016 and Justice League will hit theaters in 2017.

The move won't officially announced until the Warner Brothers panel at Comic-Con officially starts, but word has leaked that the long-fabled (and once scrapped) Superman and Batman team-up will be the company's big counter to Marvel's Avengers sequel

I think that trying to "counter" Marvel is a bad idea. Trying to out do each other will lead to bad movies. Both studios should just focus on making great movies. Write stories that make sense and have respect for the characters.

I just read Christian Bale is asking 50 million to reprise his role and the studio is seriously considering it knowing it could easily recoup that movie with Bale suiting up again.

^^ I'm 99% sure that isn't going to happen...any link?

No I read it on a buddy's phone while at work. He's a huge Batman fan too but he showed me the article and it specifically said he would do it for 50 Million and the studios were in negotiations. I'll see if I can track it down.

Guess it was wishful thinking all the research says Bale won't do it. I tend to believe the 100 or so articles confirming it rather than one I read on a site I don't know.

yeah I won't say with 100% certainty that he won't, but it's highly unlikely that he will not reprise the role. He's pretty much said that as long as Nolan is directing that's he's on board but if Nolan is out then so is he.

I just read the segment announced from Comic Con San Diego on the movie.

At that point, he called Harry Lennix — who you’ll recall basically played the Nick Fury character in Man of Steel — for a charismatic dramatic reading. (How charismatic? Lennix was wearing an ascot.) He read a key line from Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns:

I want you to remember, Clark. In all the years to come. In all your most private moments. I want you to remember my hand at your throat. I want you to remember the one man who beat you.

That line is, of course, spoken by Batman — and that “Clark” he’s referencing is, of course, Superman. (The quote comes after a lengthy battle between the two heroes.) As Lennix finished speaking, a giant Superman logo appeared on the Hall H screen … and it was superimposed on the Batman logo. So there you go: There is another Superman movie coming, and it will co-star Batman.

It looks like the two will go toe to toe in a battle. Hard to believe Batman would be able to get the upper hand on Superman, Looks like he may have some Kryptonite to help him along.

Yeah that quote was read from the infamous graphic novel The Dark Knight Returns. I think, due to the popularity of that story (universally considered in the top 2-3 comic stories of all time) and that segment, that the reading was to create a shyt ton of buzz. I can't really see them doing a live action version of that story. Although Batman has a lot of savvy and is incredibly intelligent, what works in the comics doesn't always translate to live action. Superman could flick Batman with his finger and kill him on a whim. Besides that, I'm sure the storyline will have them working together as allies by the climax of the film. This "plan" of WB/DC is all building towards a JLA movie.

Personally, no matter what they come up with, I'm stoked. I thought it was gonna be another 4-5 years minimum until I saw Batman on the big screen again and now it's only gonna be two.

It would be sweet if Superman were to take Batman and put him into his Krypton chamber and allow some of his families advanced knowledge to help repair the Batman Body problems like his knee.

Putting Batman back in youthful health would mean hell for the other side.

I'm underwhelmed by this news. I don't see it being good.
There's a lot of news here: Batman and Superman together, a Justice League movie, a Flash movie and an Avengers sequel. Are you underwhelmed by all of it or a particular aspect of it?

Zing, I don't care for the Batman Superman movie. I believe that Batman and Superman worlds are different. I just don't see them meshing well together. Avengers had multiple sci fi characters together so that world works. Batman is more the world we know which is why I enjoy it much more. SUPERMAN would just mess that up.

Stop being so pessimistic, we know almost nothing about this so far. I may have preferred a pure MOS sequal before a team-up/crossover but I trust these writers and producers to pull off a World's Finest type story.

As long as their main focus isn't getting the upper hand on Avengers, I'm cool with it. Just put out a good story. I'm a Marvel fan, but loved the Superfriends cartoon as a kid. I would love to see a Legion of Doom ensemble in the upcoming JLA movie.

Just no Wendy, Marvel, or Wondermutt.

The bottom line is, whether its from the "big two" or anyone else, a good flick is good for the entire genre and a bad one is a setback.

But Yesfan how about the Wondertwins?
