Help with my Integra DHC-40.1 AV Controller

Ok I bought my Integra DHC-40.1 AV Controller last year used, so it came with no product manual. I have the online version downloaded on my computer but it's a lot of pages and I need some tips to get this thing running at it's full potential.

1st problem is I accidentally hit some button that I think assigns input to my tv screen, as a result now I cannot pull up the onscreen display I just get nothing. Before I would pull it up on HDMI 2 on my Pansonic tv.

2nd problem is the way my Bluray player is currently configured I cannot change settings when using it as CD player I am stuck with it in Direct Mode. SACD's also play only in Direct Mode, I assume I need to change what input it is assigned to. Right now music only comes thru when I have it on DVD/BD, with the Sony graphics tracks etc. onscreen display, via HDMI 1 on the tv.

This could be a long running thread, HeLp! Dummy OnBoard :text-feedback:

First things first, you need to get your on screen display up. Try setting the panny on all the HDMI ports, like 1, 2, 3 etc. If you accidentally hit some external button, that should be evedent. If the HDMI run through with the panny fails, use the manual in conjunction with the front panel display to navigate the appropriate setup screen.

Keep us posted, we'll get you backup and running...come hell or high water.

If you don't get the display up, look on page 89 of your owner manual.

Yeah the run thru various HDMI inputs on the Panny was my first step, but I will try using the front panel and going to p.89 on the manual. Thanks Rope

Well I got the OSD to come back up, not really sure how I did it as I was pushing a lot of buttons but it's back.

LOL! Not scientific, but better than a jab in the eye with a sharp stick.

Rope or anyone else, my next problem is getting the SACD sound routed correctly thru my pre-pro. I can't seem to get the surround channels to kick into gear. I have a co-axial output cable hooked up, which I belive is supposed to be a workaround for HDMI 1.3 recievers but somehow I missed something I guess.

More specific questions might have to wait untill I get back on Tuesday from Orlando FL. But maybe you can give me some ideas I can to work on when I get back.

Coax/optical SPDIF is not of sufficient bandwidth to pass multi-channel uncompressed, or the "raw" DSD data. It can only handle things like Dolby 5.1, which is lossy. So unless your SACD player can transcode into DD5.1 or something like it (e.g. DTS), your choices are either HDMI or analog.

Awwww Crap, thanks PaulyT. I bought that player because I thought the co-axial was a work around for the SACD. Now I see this year Sony's S790 has " Two backwards compatible HDMI outputs provide excellent Audio support for legacy audio products." :angry-banghead:

As far as know, dual HDMI outputs are exclusive to mid-higher end 3d bd players, and the primary reason is to curb the immediate need to replace an a/v receiver or preamps that cannot pass the 3d signal onto the display. Therefore one HDMI is input to the receiver/preamp for high resolution audio and the other it attached directly to the display for 3D...
