Just to get this out there I am not a big headphone guy, if I want to listen at my computer I have my Moonson planer hybrid desktop speakers. For more mobile settings I use my IEM from Shure. So I don't feel I'm highly qualified in headphone reviews, unlike some of the rest of you hardcore HP nuts.
I tried the Oppo's, the Kingsound Electrostatic's, both were good. I prefered the Audeze LCD-X and LCD-3, I like their more stereo like soundstage, with their angled in placement on your head. After listening
to both I liked the LCD-3 more which had a warmer sound in the highs.
However the headphones I should have been listening to were the HiFiMan 1000's, I have heard a much lower priced model at the 2013 show and thought they were good. But the 1000's really stood out to me in their extra ordinary amount of detail they presented.
I really wish I would have come back another day to give them a proper listening session, so I highly recommend if you can to have a listen to these fantastic HP's. Despite their 3K price tag. http://www.hifiman.com/he1000/ Their is a video from the HiFiMan booth with Ty from Inner Fidelity on their site. You have to click on the link to "learn more about the nanograde material, which plays a video of Mr. Fang placing the material in air and letting it float to floor, after it is done you can find the show video.
