Kick-Ass 2 has an official release date of June 28,2013. Really looking forward to this. I'm not sure if Matthew Vaughn is returning to direct...

Edit: looks like Jeff Wadlow is directing, never heard of him...here's to hoping he doesn't fuck it up

Hmmm not sure if 5.0 should coincide with this or Man of Steel...

Loved the first one, but a bit skeptical about this one as the main players are older.

Here's our first official look at Kick-Ass 2 featuring Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Kick-Ass, Jim Carrey as Colonel Stars and Stripes, and his masked sidekick dog.

Looks like Jim Carrey is feeling somewhat guilty about being in a movie with so much violence. Wonder if he's entirely sincere or if this is moreso just a way to drum up publicity for the film? Or maybe a convenient merging of both that results in a clearing of Carrey's conscience as well as potentially helping at the box office? I mean, sure, I can absolutely get having of a change of heart after some of the violence that has happened since filming wrapped up. But it's not like there wasn't violence before. In real life, unfortunately. Or in stories like, say, the original Kick Ass. Perhaps I'm just being cynical.

@JimCarrey: I did Kick-Ass 2 a month b4 Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence,” he Tweeted Sunday. “My apologies to others involve[d] with the film. I am not ashamed of it but recent events have caused a change in my heart.“

The sparse early reviews are positive!!

unfortunately, I've seen the opposite... I'm still going to see it, but it looks like it fell short.

Just got back from seeing a late showing this evening.

I liked it and felt it was $10 well-spent.

As good as the first? Nope. But I really liked the first.

Could it have been better? Yup. But I still enjoyed it as is.

Would I recommend it? Nope. Only because this one really does fall into the "depends entirely on your own personal tastes" category. You may like it; you may not. I don't want to be held responsible if it turns out to be the latter.

What I liked the most: Hit Girl's character and her initial efforts to fit in with the "normal" crowd.

What I like the least? I thought Jim Carrey's character was nearly completely useless to the movie. They failed to write a good part / role for the character - and especially for him to play the character. You don't hire a physical comic genius and then throttle him back as much as they did. Cripes, I think they wrote better scenes for his dog!
