Mankind: The Story of all of us

Stumbled onto this History Channel show tonight, pretty damn fascinating. Its tracking the advancement of Mankind by our only true driving force: Money.
Its kinda sad how human history shifts so suddenly in response to "wealth", regardless of what the commodity is actually "worth": pepper, silver (pre-electronics), diamonds (pre-industrial abrasive), spices, tulips (yes, TULIPS!), sugar, and (this is where I am in the show) perhaps electrons (our modern measure of "wealth").
Jeff, as our resident Historian, I'm interested in whether you've seen this program, and your thoughts. I'm learning a lot, but don't have a gauge as to how accurate it all is...

^ Saw that last weekend. Yeah, fun program. If my memory serves, gun powder made the fastest spread to other cultures and biggest influence in shaping the borders of nations thus their power.

I was recording all the episodes but after watching 2 of them I deleted the rest.

As an armchair historian ( I do have a Bachelors degree in history and have continued my studies post university over the last 38 years) I don't care for it. The delivery style is messy and at times confusing. Too much mixing of fact and conjecture without making the difference clear.

Not for me.
