At Bat's GTG 6.0, Towen7 challenged all in attendance to name their "top 5 desert island" movies. Basically you're on a plane and it's going to crash and you can only choose five - be quick about it!

I perhaps surprised a few with my fifth selection: Fritz Lang's Metropolis. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metropolis_(1927_film) Actually I specifically chose a complete fully-restored full-length version - which unfortunately does not exist.

Well now's your chance to see if you agree with my choice, or not - almost!

If you can get TCM, tune in on July 26th at 8pm to catch the ultimate (if not complete) 2010 restored version. The original ran 153 minutes; the restoration to be aired by TCM is 149 minutes.

To those that do watch it, please drop back to this thread with your comments. Would it make your list?

(Slowly convincing people that great film is not about blowing shit up, although there can be great blowing-shit-up films.)

My DVR wont let me schedule a recording that far in advance. Thanks for the heads-up though.

I studied German film history in college and this movie was one we had to study. Was a great movie.

Btw Jeff we talked at the GTG did you ever get the final "Roadshow" version of "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World". Another classic.
