This isn't completely new, but when I installed my new top end speakers, the new "Statement" model, I chose to remove all the gear I didn't absolutely require to play audio. I went from a rack of gear to the bare minimum: speakers, amps, crossover/processor, TV, and sources (Fire TV and BluRay/Streaming player),
So, no peamps, no receivers, no DACs, nothing not core to playing audio.
The result is perhaps the best sound I've ever experienced. The detail, clarity, resolution, dynamics, imaging, and sheer realism is beyond anything I have ever expected or thought was remotely possible.
Of late, I am leaning towards the idea that modern gear, like current generation digital amps, speaker/driver, and sources are as good as one could ever want. This old-school mentality that huge class-A amps, huge preamps with separate chassis power supplies, stand alone DACs, and confusing source and "signal cleaning" components is simply a waste of time.
