My church choir today

In case you don't know, that's my ugly mug right above the conductor's head, and my wife's on the right in front with the long black hair.

Thanks, gents. Botch, I have no idea, I'll ask our choir director if he knows more about Helvey, and why he picked that piece for us to sing - it's new to us as a choir, the first time we've done that one.

Here's a video - in two parts because it's kinda long - of our annual Christmas performance. This year we did the Rutter Magnificat, a challenging piece. We were joined by a mini orchestra (string quartet, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon) and a few extra folks to beef up the choir a bit. Fancy audio systems and recordings are great, but there's nothing quite like participating in the midst of a group like that, something I wish everyone could experience in some way. There are some really beautiful moments in this music as well, I love Rutter's stuff.

Video's marginal, but you can see me right behind the organ console, second from left. I particularly like the last soprano solo, starting about 13:30 in the second half. (Plus you can see me looking very musically serious - actually I get kinda emotional in that part...)

I so enjoyed this Pauly!!!! Just awesome!!! I was part of an a cappella choir, so very long ago, so many sweet memories for me!!! This whole arrangement is just beautiful!!! :eusa-clap:
