Need a Favour From Someone Who Gets TCM

It would be very much appraciated if a US-based member who gets TCM could record "Important News" a 1936 film short that will be playing at 1:43 AM on Saturday December 8th and burn a copy to DVD for me. (I will of course cover any costs of doing so.) Jimmy Stewart makes an uncredited appearance and it's one of only a few of his movies that I don't yet have in my collection. Unfortunately TCM (Canada) is not carrying it.

If you can, PM me and I'll then post that I've found someone.

If not to DVD, VHS tape (highest quality speed) will work as well. I can transfer it to DVD at my end, and edit out the segments before and after the movie itself.

I have lots of recordable dvd's........but like the slacker above lack the technology. Be happy to share the recordable discs though.

I still have a DVD recorder...not sure if I get TCM though. :think:

:laughing-lettersrofl: okay with a little help from T7, it turns out I do get TCM but that movie isn't on the guide, I did a search by both title and actor and turned up nothing...because of this I didn't even think I got the channel since I never watch it.
 
Could it be because its a "short" and the weird start time that its not on the guide?
 
Maybe it's a regional thing... I have that channel but Important News is not showing at that time, or at all. The Shop Around The Corner is on at that time, followed by Below the Belt. I used the seach function and even scrolled through the listings on TCM as far out as my guid goes but didn't find Important News.

Checked IMDB and its only 10 mins. You're probably right. Maybe someone can just record an hour on either side.
 
I set my DVR to record tomorrow morning the shows before and after 2am. If that show slips in there, I'll capture it. It won't be difficult to get it onto DVD from that point for you Jeff...

I'm showing the same listings so hopefully recording at the correct times will work.

That's exactly where it's showing in my guide: between "Shop Around the Corner" and "Below the Belt."

Okay so I managed to get it, in fact I fell asleep watching it, after waiting to make sure it was coming on. Now I just gotta dig the DVD recorder out which has been in hiding for about a year...
 
Transferring to DVD now Jeff!! I'll double check the recording play back properly and if all is well will drop it in the mail today!
 
So Bats and I have been PM'ing about this little project off and on for a little while now and just wanted to give him (and his Mom!) a public shout out THANK YOU for the effort he's put(ting) into this. This is way more than I could ever expect - but very much appreciated.

Bats' efforts paid off! The disc arrived in the mail today and I just finished watching it. The short film Important News came very early in Jimmy Stewart's career. And while he's not the main character, he's in front of the camera more than enough to give us a very good sense of his acting abilities. A real treat for a fan like me to see!
